4. If we want to win a better city for working people, we have to fight for it! Corporations and wealthy conservatives aren’t just going to allow us establish democratic socialism without a fight. They have all sorts of dirty tricks. We have to organize and educate to continue to win!

Sometimes you will hear them ask why Portland DSA electeds can’t be more like Mamdani. Mamdani is very effective but he is also ruthlessly attacked by the corporate press and conservatives in his city.

3. Democratic socialism is very popular in Portland Corporate centrists and right wing PACs + candidates don’t really talk about the politics of democratic socialism because it’s popular in Portland. Instead, they fixate on decorum and argue things would be better if everyone was nicer.

Eli Arnold (D4) is a cop who gassed and beat protestors in 2020. He says he was inspired to become a cop after Ferguson (seriously). He is supported by wealthy conservative activists and right wing podcasters.

Kellie Torres (D3) used to be Dan Ryan’s Chief of staff, was recruited by the Portland metro chamber, and is supported by corporate lobbyists and rich conservatives She identifies as “progressive” on her mailers.
