Appreciate the compliment

Keep digging that hole, buddy! This is your moment!

How many death sentences did Obama commute, friendo? And how many of those whose lives he refused to save were executed by Trump?

@bradleyrhaywood.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 11:52 PM

What a wild response. She didn’t say every Democrat, or Democrats in 2024. If you want to cherry pick anecdotes, 13 people would be alive today if Obama hadn’t refused to commute all but 2 people on death row before the end of his tenure. Trump rushed to kill those guys before Biden took office.

… We can’t, because so much has been revealed recently about this shady business and it’s easily-abused technology that we don’t necessarily even know what to regulate. So where, pray tell, are these ideas coming from? Hmmm? Hmmmmmmmm? 2/2

The new legislative proposals to regulate ALPRs in Va—rather than ban them—may as well have been written by Flock themselves. In fact, they probably were! There isn’t a single advocacy group promoting regs right now…. 1/2

Most people in the USA have been very willing to allow a great deal of state violence so long as they do not need to witness or experience it regularly. MAGA has used this to push the limit of how much violence the USA will tolerate. There is no reason to think the escalation will stop.

I do. It’s kinda crappy but you can borrow it if you want

A word to those looking for a good criminal defense lawyer: if you meet with a named partner of a criminal defense firm that employs associates, and retain that firm, you will be represented by an associate, who in all likelihood will be completely out of their depth and suck beyond belief.

Have you ever noticed that communities with great schools, good jobs, truly affordable housing, abundant health care, accessible community mental health/substance abuse treatment services, and clean, appealing public spaces, tend to have low crime rates & REALLY small police departments? Just me?

@bradleyrhaywood.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 12:25 AM

It’s pretty unsettling how many folks are comfortable with the idea of a justice system where 1 out of every 11 people in prison for rape would be completely innocent.

Ok, hear me out: ALPRs, but only for America’s frat houses.

I drive through that circle (or around it, under the Memorial Bridge) probably 4 times a week. It’s basically just an awkward traffic pattern at this point. The preservationist argument doesn’t make any sense to me.

@bradleyrhaywood.bsky.socialSep 27, 2026, 1:46 PM

The Trump arch is extra dumb, but opposition rooted in preserving the sight line between the Lincoln Memorial and Robert E. Lee’s mansion —formally the National Memorial to Robert E. Lee—might be even dumber.

They often treat these seats as political favors to people they know or who have contributed to the party in some way, regardless of whether they’re well-suited to strengthen appellate jurisprudence in the Commonwealth. I wish this whole process would change. It’s sad that it hasn’t. 4/4

@bradleyrhaywood.bsky.socialSep 27, 2026, 1:27 PM

Most troubling is the fact that many VaDem party leaders don’t seem to understand why appellate judgeships matter—despite so many of their own legislative achievements in recent years being gutted by the appellate courts. 3/4

@bradleyrhaywood.bsky.socialSep 27, 2026, 1:27 PM

Local trial judgeships in Va. are popularity contests; it’s extraordinarily rare for reliable progressives to make it on the bench, in part b/c local bar ass’ns lean conservative (and old). Right now there are no true progressives on SCOVA, and they’re clearly the minority on the Ct of Appeals. 2/4

@bradleyrhaywood.bsky.socialSep 27, 2026, 1:27 PM

The Dem-led Va. General Assembly is about to appoint more Court of Appeals judges, and I’m afraid they’re going to make the same mistake they always do: prioritizing “experience” and established party loyalty of current trial judges over ideology and genuine aptitude/talent. 1/4

Brodbeck is at minimum a conservative libertarian. Their editorial bias has always been firmly on the right side of the ideological spectrum. I think the difference now is that the conservatism is simply more clumsy and boneheaded, because … Scott Mccaffrey

As someone who walks past the county building 2 times a day, almost every day, this article is complete and total horseshit. ArlNow is a propaganda outfit, plain and simple, and if you live in Arlington and aren’t a fascist, you need to stop reading. ASAP.
