"You crossed the wrong people, motherfucker."

Still image of Lady Penelope from the Gerry Anderson animated TV series Thunderbirds. The lady is in her pink convertible with the top down wearing a fur coat with blond bob held on one side with a ribbon, smoking a cigarette in an extended black holder and looking sideways at the camera.

Brian Eno and David Byrne working on the cover art for My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts at Byrne's loft at Greene St & Houston St in NYC. Boombox looks like the same JVC/Victor RC-646 that achieved celebrity in Stop Making Sense a few years later. Photograph by Ebet Roberts ebetroberts.com

Photograph by Ebet Roberts of Brian Eno standing operating a video camera on a tripod and David Byrne crouched looking at a video monitor and polaroids on the wooden floor of his large loft space at Greene St & Houston Street in New York City. In the background is a JVC/Victor RC-646 boombox that later made an onstage appearance alongside Byrne in the Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense. Date unknown, probably circa 1979/80.

When people became curious about this unreleased mix of his that featured in an old documentary about Tony Humphries and New Jersey house music, he very kindly shared the audio file around. Recently launched a new website: kerrichandler.com

Trinidadian-born DJ/producer #TimmyRegisford began his career in music at NYC’s WBLC radio station before working in A&R at Atlantic Records, Motown Records & Dreamworks Records. Starckers loved his work on the B-side Dub Mix of #Stimulation’s 1985 #House cut “Stimulation”

Anyway, gave blood again earlier, like the ruddy buddy hero I am. You too could be a hero if you do the same, although not as much of one as me, obvs.

In retrospect wish we'd asked to take a peek in the garage, but I guess people might've been using the studio. I think Grant Gilbert was slightly nervous about renting to teenagers, but the standard thing back then was you left a passport as security until the gear was returned.

Believe this was recorded at Guerilla Studios, 16 Blomfield Rd in London, it was in a garage next to a nice house which you can still see on Google maps. Visited once to rent their Linn LM-1 for a few days circa 1984 (after seeing an ad in a music mag), Grant Gilbert handled the transaction.

#12inchTuesday #GinaX

Photo of a 1981 12" vinyl single release by Gina X Performance: Nice Mover / No G.D.M. (Dedicated To Quentin Crisp). Cover features a left-tilted photograph of Zeus B. Held and Gina X at the base of a metal electricity pylon, with Gina in a leather hat giving maniacal side-eye to the camera. Top right has some damage to the cover, possibly from an inauspicious effort to remove a price sticker.
