"Oestrogen. Definitely oestrogen. You take the pill, flush it away. It enters the water cycle, feminises the fish. Goes all the way up into the sky, then falls all the way back down onto me. Contraceptives in the rain. Love this planet. Still, at least I won't get pregnant. Never doing that again."

Today on Too Hot For TV I am joined by Luke Molloy to talk about the Torchwood comic 'Rift War' and the audio 'Expectant'.

*sniff It does go on, Bill.

An image from the 2013 docudrama, An Adventure In Space and Time. David Bradley as William Hartnell. He is dressed as the First Doctor before shooting his last scenes in his final story, The Tenth Planet.

In this poignant scene, Hartnell looks across the TARDIS console and sees a future Doctor, a symbolic scene ensuring that what Hartnell created lasts and goes on. In the original broadcast on November 21, 2013 as part of the show's 50th anniversary, Hartnell sees Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, the Doctor at the time. When it was rebroadcast during the 60th anniversary on November 23, 2023, Smith was replaced by Ncuti Gatwa, who was about to become the 15th Doctor.

In this image, Hartnell looks across and sees the Doctor from the upcoming CBeebies program, Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew.

The franchise-bestriding legacy of Ann (not Anne) Robinson: her lead character Sylvia Van Buren from the 1953 movie returned for 3 eps of the 1988 series (now in an asylum having screaming abdabs whenever alien doings afoot), then a cameo as Grandmother at the end of Spielberg's 2005 movie.

I’ve just been listening to this. It’s very good. I think that Collected Comics was the first Dr Who thing I ever owned… I was 10 and I loved it. I still do.

We absolutely did.

@toohot4tv.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 9:05 PM

Thanks John. Glad it was relatable.

Caught up with this. Guys, you were discussing MY 90s! I too met Robert Beltran in a comic shop. I also visited a Star Trek exhibition. I got all my news/knowledge from TV Zone/DWM/DreamWatch/SFX. I watched TNG on BBC2 (& Sky 1). I think this is my favourite episode of the podcast. Loved it!

What a journey @toohot4tv.bsky.social - I do say she had a long post War of the Worlds IMDB list but I did not read it closely enough, it's her!

In the begining, A Definitively Inaccurate Douglas Adams Story was created. This has made a lot of people very happy and has widely been regarded as a good move. Enjoy and share this fine art work from Martin Geraghty by supporting the kickstarter today

Image shows an alien hand wrapped around a communication device. The screen has an image of Douglas Adams with text about the author.

I remember seeing VHS tapes of the War of the Worlds spin off series at the Video Library next to the Trek tapes as a kid, & being curious... but never hired them!
So very interesting to hear @quiteamess.bsky.social & @toohot4tv.bsky.social chat about them on Too Hot for TV!

This one of two films by the team behind the ill fated Dr Who film The Last of the Time lords in the early 90s.

I remember you saying you didn't have much to go on in terms of the source material?

Oh, Torchwood. It was starting when I was first getting into Doctor Who so it was basically one half of how I interpreted the franchise for a while. Honestly, it colored how I viewed Doctor Who more than the Classic series did.
