Oh my god
"YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING [hits] Holmes with a spotlight that diffuses outwards, turning a look at Holmes and our fabulist, parasocial moment into one where she becomes both architect and material."

…engulfing so many people and ideas that by the time it reaches its conclusion, the results are breathtaking. Above all else, this is a film that will force you to question everything you believe. A staggering work of art.
YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING is one of the greatest documentaries ever made. A stunning examination of a master manipulator BY a master manipulator. What starts as a fairly standard biographical portrait expands outwards like a fractal…

In the Terminator films we learn that Skynet becomes self-aware and decides to exterminate all of mankind. What those films missed is the far more likely outcome: AI will kill us completely by accident while trying to accomplish some other random goal that was set for it, or that it set for itself
It’s great but you need to stick with the same group throughout if possible!
Just rolled credits on BIG WALK with a group of friends and wow. What started as a silly puzzle game becomes something else completely by the end. A profound and kind of emotional journey. One of my favorite gaming experiences ever.
THE HATEFUL EIGHT
"Where [THE SOCIAL NETWORK] is one of the masterpieces of the 2010s, THE SOCIAL RECKONING is more like a dad movie for dads who don’t quite understand how algorithms work."
Today at Decoding Everything: @carolinesiede.bsky.social reviews Sorkin's latest www.decodingeverything.com/the-social-r...
Was the LANTERNS finale a sublime and subtle ending for a great season of TV? Or was it a disaster?

Amen

Absolutely
…and the show has been the definition of showing not telling (despite having copious flashbacks). It just tried to do too much with not enough time/budget. The finale was no different. The way it tries to make us invested in [character’s] arc is a complete non-starter. Huge bummer.
LANTERNS finale: This show started strong and I love the chemistry between Chandler and Pierre but otherwise, this has sadly been a slog for me. Virtually every “reveal” in the show has come out of nowhere with no buildup (making every mystery totally unsatisfying)…
I think I’m officially pro-DIGGER. Movie definitely has a lot of problems but it’s a rich text. My guess is it’ll stand the test of time.
BIRDMAN is a great film but it kinda sucks that it takes two cheap shots at East Asians: Once right at the beginning of the film when Emma Stone is trying to buy flowers but says everything smells "like Kimchi" (huh??) and then later when a Japanese guy says "BIRDMAN 4!" with a funny accent.
The New York Times recently published a list of the 100 best TV shows of the 21st Century. For Decoding TV, @patrickklepek.bsky.social I break down what we thought of their choices, some stuff they missed, and just some of the weird-ass stuff that made it www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_7Y...
