Pope Francis, the darling of the liberal left, was viciously transphobic and did as much if not more to disseminate anti-trans panic as the likes of JK Rowling and Elon Musk.

An actual problem among queer communities, including too many radicals, is reacting to this kind of obvious bullshit with an appeasing crouch and frantic self-criticism rather than the hard contempt our enemies deserve.

Asked elsewhere how I think folks should respond: * Refuse to treat obvious bad faith hitpieces like they're a sign of any real wider issue that needs some internal reckoning. Reality check those falling for it. * Go on the attack against the real problem: propagandists who pull this kind of shit.

if politicians really gave a shit about protecting the youth, they would ban all of these gambling websites federally. But instead, the "protect the kids" policies are being used to enable getting 18 year olds addicted to gambling.

Dems replaced action on trans rights with hollow statements, then dropped those statements, then embraced anti-trans rhetoric. Now supporting anti-trans laws and blocking pro-trans ones. At every step the "they're betraying us" radicals were correct and "be patient" liberals were completely wrong.
