🌍 As of 15 September 2026, dust alerts have been recorded across the global dust belt, from the Sahara & Arabian Peninsula to Central Asia & Australia. Among the European cities, Las Palmas recorded the highest number, with a total of 20 alert days.
The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) invites tenders for the co-design of greenhouse gas policy services under #CopernicusAtmosphere, supporting collaboration with national inventory agencies. Deadline: 5 Nov 2026.

🔥Wildfire emissions can affect air quality far from where fires are burning. During summer 2026, several smoke plumes from North America crossed the Atlantic towards Europe, while fires in Indonesia exposed populations to very high PM2.5 concentrations.

Global total estimated fire emissions were the second-lowest in the 24-year CAMS dataset for September 2026. However, Indonesia recorded its third-highest September monthly total estimated emissions, contributing to Asia having the highest estimated fire emissions of any continent.
