No barrister in British legal history has ever faced contempt proceedings over the content of a closing speech.

Rajiv Menon now faces prison for words that barristers have recited in court for centuries.

In 1999, Netpol's campaigns coordinator helped organise the first United Families & Friends remembrance procession. Nobody imagined that eight Prime Ministers later, families would still have to march to demand police officers responsible for deaths face criminal charges netpol.org/2026/10/07/d...

Having previously urged organisers to cancel, the Metropolitan Police has restricted a student Palestine march and rally in London today to finish within 90 minutes and said anyone taking part must not wear a face covering. Anyone who breaches these conditions risks arrest

Face covering bans are incredibly discriminatory for lots of reasons. I get that a lot of people have a gut response to "masked far right thugs!" but many anti-fascists also cover their faces to protect their identities & all sorts of people wear them for health &/or religious or cultural reasons.

@netpol.orgOct 3, 2026, 6:54 AM

Police routinely insist they don't authorise protests (although they restrict them on dubious grounds all the time) and that they do not take sides or pass judgement on a cause people are protesting about. Yet that's exactly what the Met is trying to do here www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Similar powers have been threatened by Kent Police – but as yet, an order has not been imposed – for a far right demonstration and anti-fascist counter protest in Dover www.itv.com/news/meridia...

Hampshire Police have imposed a "mask-free zone" order today from 11.00-17.00, covering most of central Southampton, in advance of a far right demonstration and an anti-fascist counter protest. This gives officers the power to arrest anyone wearing a face covering, regardless of whether they need to

Big love to everyone who has contributed so far, an inspiring example of support and solidarity that knows no borders

Just been paid? Donate now, let's get it over the line. Anything extra will go to legal costs for other comrades in similar situations 🖤✊❤️🏴

This is what antifascist solidarity looks like!
We want to send huge thanks to everyone who has shared and donated so far. In a week we have raised over £8000, which is phenomenal. The support and solidarity from near and far has given our comrade and his family a massive morale boost and really lifted their spirits through some very tough times. They are and will be forever grateful. It's been a very awesome show of antifascist solidarity and a collective stand sending a clear message very much echoing the old adage that an attack on one is an attack on us all. Donations have come in from Italy, the Basque country, Spain, France, Germany, Belgium and beyond, providing a strong reminder that we are everywhere, we share the same struggles and our solidarity knows no borders.

So after just one week we are nearly there at the target of £10000. Please help give it a last push over the line by sharing this crowd funder as widely as you can and donating if you have the means to do so. Your support and solidarity has and continues to make a real difference to a comrade facing legal attacks by the state for his participation in the struggle against the rise of fascism. He has seen so clearly this week that he is not alone. We also want to remind everyone that anything we raise above the target will go to support other antifascists targeted by state repression. We hope to be able to provide some solidarity funds for legal costs for other comrades in similar situations, arrested and dragged through the courts for taking a stand for community self defence and for a better world.

Proscription was introduced to crush direct action against Britain's complicity in Israeli genocide. Does Miliband think all the arrests – all for signs saying "I oppose genocide” as well as expressing support for Palestine Action – were about something else? www.middleeasteye.net/news/miliban...

If anyone is struggling to understand how our media and politicians are still talking about an RAF Fairford "bomb plot" when there were no bombs found, then the Forest Gate raid in 2006 is a useful comparison en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_...

Photo taken by Netpol's campaigns coordinator in 2006 of the end of Lansdown Rd in Forest Gate, closed by police after a "bomb plot" terrorism raid led to the sealing off of the area for a week. One man was shot but fortunately survived – there was no bomb factory, yet the Kahar family were smeared by the media for weeks

Miliband: "To the millions in this country.. who have been moved & outraged by the plight of the Palestinian people, we hear you. You were right" So scrap the proscription of Palestine Action. End all arms exports to Israel. Impose sanctions on the Israeli govt & economy.
