@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialIt apparently played the Manhattan Drafthouse this past weekend in the same time slots that GHOST IN THE CELL did.
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialAh, fuck, I should have made room for THE RESTORATION AT GRAYSON MANOR, Glass Eye Pix stalwart Glenn McQuaid's queer killer hands horror drama. In my meagre defense, I didn't know it was a fall release until a few days ago.
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialSee, I respect it.
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialSo far so good (pls note that just because I’m looking forward to KUNG FU SOCCER doesn’t also mean I’m kinda dreading it too)
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialVery excited to see another one of my most anticipated movies of the fall tomorrow night. Because who doesn't need to see a 75 year old shoot a big gun every now and then?
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialQuiet, Kelly Clarkson and her army of followers might hear you
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialTHESE PEOPLE uses the story of Lincoln’s assassination and embalming as the focus for a rambling, discursive collage style tribute to humanity as a beautiful, messy collective. Combining old silent movies and documentary footage, McAbee delivers another idiosyncratic gem. Highly recommended.
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialWe’re here. (Apologies to the two guys I just blinded)
@simonsaybrams.bsky.social29) THE INUGAMI CURSE, by Seishi Yokomizo. I liked it!
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialI‘m sharing this poster for what appears to be a Bollywood MORTAL KOMBAT ripoff because I can. (Comes out 11/14 in India).
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialLoved Cory’s last feature, the dizzying anti-AI scifi musical DEEP ASTRONOMY AND THE ROMANTIC SCIENCES. THESE PEOPLE is easily one of my most anticipated movies of the fall.
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialThe sui generis musician/filmmaker Cory McAbee will screen his Abe Lincoln musical, THESE PEOPLE, tonight at the Slipper Room. Eager to see it (and Cory, who will be in attendance). Here’d a teaser:
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialI think surprises like this are very exciting, tbh.
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialI'm getting a taste of my own medicine, and I don't know what to do about it. (sometimes Jene will play a mix of her favorite songs and an unexpected song comes up and I don't know what to do with the new knowledge that uh, she likes "Love Comes in Spurts", got it, got it)
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialA rhetorical device like that commands respect.
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialJust filed a feature on fighting video game movies to @jacoboller.bsky.social. I was restrained and did not send him a draft that includes this image as a powerful rhetorical device.
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialI GET SO EMOTIONAL BABY EVERY TIME I THINK OF YOUUHUUUHUU
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialDeep sigh.
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialDEATH
@simonsaybrams.bsky.socialEveryone replying to this post with a paraphrase of "You Can Call Me Al" is doing exactly what the internet was built for. At the same time, you can go call me AllaYouGetFucked.
