It's never a good thing when most of the review centers on how badly the check-in process was bungled. Just one unforced error after the other.
Today's 'flickr search of the day' "air france 777 sept 2026" Related, this search has been in the top 10-15 for over a week now. No idea why.
There'd maybe be ppl that live right by the airport for whom flying wound be faster. Or folks with money that can utilize something like SeaPort Air. But otherwise, for me, SeaTac ranges 2.5-4hrs all in. If Amtrak gets it down to 90m, house to curb in Union Station could be as little as 2.5hrs.
Today's 'flickr search of the day' "pdx november 2015" I find it really interesting when ppl search for specific airports in specific months but for a year that's over a decade ago.
Welcome! I went to the zoo for the animals, ended up enamored with a train 😆
Short thread on OR Zoo’s unique “Zooliner” locomotive.
And they did, with Northwest Marine Ironworks building the 140hp locomotive in 1958. The full size trains were out of service within a decade, having been bounced around to a number of potential suitors, none of which kept them. The Zooliner, however, turns 68 this year and is still going strong.
According to some lore I came across, the city saw the design at a conference in the mid-50s and was like "hell yeah this looks awesome". GM, not yet knowing the trains were not, in fact, going to be the future, fully cooperated and gave the city all the schematics needed to make the locomotive. 2/3
It's a 5/8th scale version of GM's Aerotrain from 1955, pulling its design largely from popular car designs of the era. The full size trains were a flop, thanks to terrible suspension. That meant it usually operated far slower than it was supposed to. GM only ended up making 2 or 3 sets.

there was never any choice in the matter
And of course one plane
It was a big day for trains and I Amtrak, TriMet, Washington Park Railways, SoundTransit all in one day.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen it on an American one, but I’ve seen them on European trains. Usually as a larger fixed placard somewhere in the car tho vs as a seatback card.
I get it. But I wanted my $8 bid to win for that J upgrade haha.
Maybe one day.
Interestingly the train is listed as sold out across both coach and business, but is pulling maybe a 50% load. An employee confirmed they’re still selling the new train set with the seat maps/capacity of the prior ones for now.
These new Amtrak train sets are like being in Europe but at half the speed. If they ever build the Cascade route into a proper HSR I’d never fly regionally again outside of connections.
