En dat in een praatje van (oorspronkelijk) 12 minuten! Maar het klopt wel ja, het is steeds meer een samenhangend verhaal met referenties naar eerdere stukken. Dank!

Maybe good to know that the plague has frequent outbreaks. This is not a long-dead disease that we got rid of (sadly). www.who.int/news-room/fa...

Map of the world showing there the plague is still around - large parts of south america, africa and china. https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/plague

Genuinely concerned about what's happening to the space-time continuum in this toilet.

This is very true. A huge theme in a lot of recent coverage that AI is a bit like Saving Private Ryan. Everybody's gotta step up and adopt AI to get it across the goal line.

This really sounds like the right people have drawn the right lessons

European governments also want to be sure they can quickly produce drones in large numbers. Unlike conventional munitions, governments do not want to build large stockpiles of drones given the Ukraine war has shown the need for frequent upgrades to software and technology to avoid becoming obsolete.

Family-owned Schaeffler Germany, which makes bearings and other components for carmakers, signed a deal with French army supplier and drone maker Delair in June to help it with a “very quick and rapid ramp-up” of its manufacturing capabilities, said Rémy Triouleyre, the head of Schaeffler’s European business.

With all the talk of "hybrid" warfare, this piece may be relevant again. In no way are our societies resilient against hostile disruption. A pre-war reality check: berthub.eu/articles/pos...

Occasionally I revisit this absolute master piece from The Onion: "The next time Congress passes a bill dealing with civil rights or taxes, I wouldn’t be surprised if the U.S. populace is mentioned somewhere in the final language.” theonion.com/american-peo...

This is quite cool. My university is the first organisation in the world to force Microsoft to allow us to turn off copilot summaries in Word 365, after a backlash against it from staff (including, very vocally, me). That cannot have been easy for our heroic IT people so hats very much off to them!

Siri, show me the deliberate destruction of eight decades of American-led international diplomacy and cooperation in one photograph:

Screenshot of a September 28, 2026, post on ex-Twitter by right-wing foreign policy analyst, professor, author and former Trump Department of Defense senior policy adviser Matthew Koenig, showing the lobby of the US State Department adorned with 200 American flags:

“The US State Department lobby used to display the flags of the roughly 200 countries with which the US maintains diplomatic relations. Now, it displays 200 American flags, to remind State Department employees who they work for.”
