There is a *lot* to be mad about Discord for but misleading people for clicks just muddies the water and forces unnecessary clarifications for the sake of making sure people are actually well informed on what the core issues are

"I’ll leave it to security fuckup theorycrafters to determine which of these breaches is worse" you know damn well which one was worse one was a direct partner of Discord handling government IDs and one was an unrelated 3rd party bot both suck but one is clearly worse

is it good to report when a larger bot/app gets compromised? are you framing it the way you are to farm engagement and ad revenue from people mad about Discord's age verification which puts less focus on the actual problem and where to point blame. Yes you absolutely are

or saying "it’s the worst Discord hack via a third-party service provider since the last Discord hack via a third-party service provider" as if a 3rd party bot that Discord itself doesn't use or encourage the use of equates even closely to the service partner hack from last year

hey so you *know* this is incredibly misleading using "Discord IDs" when in this case it's just user IDs or "Gaming chat app Discord has suffered another user data breach" when you directly admit the next sentence that it was in fact not Discord that suffered a user data breach
