A short but lovely piece by the editor-in-chief of Foreward Reviews:
Give me stone bestiaries. Give me lithic libraries of strangeness. Let me look up and see impossible animals, a telling of folklore above me. May carvings roar their stories as part of the transmission of the living lore. – #CLNolan #FolkloreSunday
She's out and about! I've a fairy tale in it (based on a real dream) which the fabulous editor, writer & artist Terri Windling described as "dark, chilling, and wonderful". Will post a pic when my copies land in Ireland. #GreenWomen #Faerie #Fairytales #TerriWindling
Unsolicited writing advice, no. 8260: Whatever genre you write, read folklore. Folklore exists because at some point, people cared so much about a certain thing that they put it into a story, and passed it down the centuries in order to keep it alive. That deserves attention.
This is horrifying.
The book is from an American publisher (Abrams Books, New York). The 37 women authors who contributed come from all over, and are well established in the fields of fantasy, folklore, and myth.
They are magnificents birds! We live next to a woodland (on Dartmoor in south-west England) and so we see them often, and hear them at night from our bedroom window -- but it never ceases to be enchanting.
I wish I could have been there, Ruth. ♥️
The same to you!
And so full of mischief!
Lottie wishes you all a good weekend. (And wants you to play ball with her now please.)
Worrye not about 'being productive,' for thou art not a product. Thou art a star daunsinge yn a hopeful skye. A signal blinking across centuryes and worldes. Thou art a song performid just once and perfectlye. Ther ys no part of thee that evir koude be wrong.
Aww, thank you. ♥️
She's grown up to be such a sweetheart. 🙂
This is an amazing, unique project: I feel so honoured to be a part of it…
An important thread. Thank you, Kelly.
It's such a fascinating piece of art history.
Congratulations to @terriwindling.bsky.social, Brian and Wendy Froud and all the contributors to this magnificent book of art.
(I have 2 short pieces in this collection, v honored & grateful to be included!) Now available in bookstores.
Lottie in a ray of sunshine, on her blanket under the desk.
After a grey and stormy morning, the light in my studio this afternoon is remarkable, pouring through the cabin's big windows. Lottie is curled on a blanket under my desk as I work. She's a good studio companion.
