Why wait for your database to be hacked if you can just publish private passport data to a public PDS straight away?
Who did this? 🫣
We have a great model for European tech — shared infrastructure, democratic governance, an actually-free market, free movement of people across the digital landscape, social verification, pluralism and subsidiarity — and it doesn't involve copying American fascists.
Gosh, the internet is a funny old place sometimes isn't it?
@timexile.com if this does interest you, I know a bunch of people in the #ATproto community that could help you realise it ;)
And I'm sure there are other benefits I'm not even considering right now
I think this was a problem never fully solved with Endlesss and AT gives the framework to realise these really great artist<>artist and artist<>audience and audience<>audience relationships.
@timexile.com Karst is AMAZING <3
Have you considered using #ATprotocol for identities? That way, storage for project data and audio files would be wherever the user's account is (i.e. not a cost for you)
we don’t need to explain atproto. we need to move the Overton Window to get people asking why it’s considered normal that a company can unilaterally control (and destroy) part of our identity and we just… let them
Thank you for the tip. I’ll see if I can find it.
What’s interesting as I wasn’t even using Firefox at the time. It was running in the background, but I didn’t have any tabs open. I only use it as my backup browser now then.
Urrr what the fox @firefox.com ? I saw no consent popup in app. What was going on here? Do I need to uninstall?
They're stringing us along
GM. It’s not that atproto is illegible to devs or even civilians but inscrutable via the systems of power that have taken over the internet. The sin of social media wasn’t technical but aligning with the desires of established power and ours is the long hard work of breaking that alignment.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ how could I refuse such a compliment
#Cynefin talks about Good Practice and Best Practice. While paid consultants love to promise the "one simple way", the truth is that in complex scenarios, there are usually many ways to skin a cat, and whatever works works.
