Oh, Iāve been there, I think! Which town was thatā¦were you on Long Beach Island?
A happy blog post about the current manuscript, post-launch-party for the new-ish release.

š§µ Attention, Fellow SFF Artists and Authors -- here is my response to Must Read Magazines, after they presented an Asimov's art contract expecting me to waive all Moral Rights and Copyright to my art. And, I would strongly advise the following to my fellow prosā¦. 1/
If you missed us at CapClave, you can still get @sarahavery.bsky.social 's Tales from Rugosa Coven from us (link below) or from all the usual suspects.

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we canāt do things weāve been doing for 5,000 years.
(Apparently autocorrect preferred "fears" over "frats.")
For one thing, frats that control a building on campus get policed by campus security, which does nothing when frat boys commit crimes. If they want their own houses, they should have to be under jurisdiction of town cops, funded by locals who are less beholden to frat alumni.
The frat boys have their freedom of association, and the colleges have the right to deny an organization campus resources if the organization owns or durably rents an off-campus space. And fears should never have control of a building on campus.
Make them choose between that private property and permission to do anything on campus. You can be a private organization that owns a house, but then you canāt have any student activities funding, reserve any campus meeting space, participate in college-wide events, etc.
The case of the disappearing books. Any other Anthropic settlement authors whoāve experienced this?
It's time to take the houses out of fraternities. The price of their continuing to be allowed to exist should be that they give up their real estate. Depriving them of dedicated space in which to haze and assault where only insiders are witnesses wouldn't fix everything, but it would help.
It's a great little convention, focused primarily on short fiction.
Cornell was on my kid's longlist. It's not on his shortlist. The university president deliberately backed his car up into a student. Then the university capitulated to the current administration in a stunning display of spinelessness. Now this.
If you're at CapClave this weekend, look for us and @sarahavery.bsky.social and Sarah's book! And if you're not there, you can find Tales From Rugosa Coven at all the usual sites.

What were they thinking (Tin soldiers and Nixon's comin')?
Like, theyāve gotta know parents read these things, too, right? If I picture my kid at Kent State, thereās a very specific historical photograph Iām mentally editing him into, and my immediate gut response is that thereās no way in hell Iād send him there.
Kent State sent my kid this admissions brochure. Anytime I read the words Kent State, I can picture it, indelibly. I bet you can, too, and that weāre forming the same mental image. This university needs to sue its marketing consultant. #BadDesign #CollegeAdmissions #FamousPhotographs
Just noticed autocorrect did not like the word saponify.
