experimented more trying to only make sketch with lasso painter with very fast strokes and very long paths crossing back on itself a bit, fun to toy with, would be nice to have more sliders to adjust its behavior. For software thats still in alpha testing, its very stable.

can't sleep, so trying out Kala paint, immediately in love with the lasso paint tool for high speed cutout knife background shapes in a couple minutes. Extremely sharp and responsive so far, this will be fun to dig into further for stylized experimentation.

Ive had to cull following a few people/ retro sources because they keep signal boosting ai recomps/hacks/translations. I'm tired of all these fame seeking ai parasites latching onto old games trying to farm cool points. They need to go make their own damn games+learn console hardware programming.

This game on the Amiga jumpscared me with the sudden ending image screen and voiceover when you beat it. I had been playing for like 16hrs straight in the dark + I was really tired 😂

It’s time to pivot back to 3d and mech stuff for a bit ,but we are all taking it easy and catching up on sleep for a few lazy days. No emails, no alarms, the cats should set the schedule sometimes.

My cats quietly napping midday and sleeping in.

The last krmmo that actually captured my attention for a long time was LostArk because it had a couple achetypes that I couldn't play in any other mmo (Arcana with its debuffing+tarot cards mechanics). Its disheartening to see newer mmos finally come out with only the most vanilla archetypes ever🙄

Its time to install yet another upcoming shiny unreal engine korean mmo. Not my first kr mmo by a longshot, they're like those cuties at the club you know are fun for a short time but not longterm relationship material. Starting wednesday i'll find some temporary distraction with it

I do use a int fixed point representation for position and velocity on their simulation before determining the integer pixel position for sprite display, which helps create nice movement arcs+bounce and gravity. Also the angled sprite rotations helps I think too

I cut a lot of corners on how they are done, if they look more complicated then I have succeeded in crafting the illusion :)

What flavor is it, did you layer multiple flavors? These are the questions that people having slurpees since early childhood want answered lol (Coke and blue raspberry are the goat imo)

I think the root of it all is to find some small way to express the desire to create something. The creative heart cries out to be heard in some form and when there is times one doesnt feel like they have the energy to make something- At a minimum I found a journal to write notes+sketches was enough

Way back b4 I got my 1st gamedev job, I was a poor student working at a mall, but I relished the little free time I had to make my own games. There was no money in it, I did it because it brought me joy. In those times I found peace all alone making something I assumed noone else would see or play.

I really love the starting forest biomes in Valheim. Its stylized but very beautiful, dense trees and lush overgrown grass, combined with rain and sunrise/sunset+weather and a bit of wind, its extremely soothing to exist in while hunting deer and collecting berries, feels like an ancestral memory

Trying to organize and free palette space today.
We can still cram so much more color+palette animations into Fire+Floe for pcengine that im helping @aeriform.bsky.social with.
The 3bits per color channel is a bit limiting for dark shades, but more vibrant gradients and pastel colors come out nice.

I regularly zoom out and check silhouette without wireframe at the target resolution+cam PoV the game is played at. Easy to get lost in modeling in full viewport framing editing+orbiting around a mesh too long at a zoomed detail that noone will notice in the final game.

Something where I get to scuba dive and be in the ocean all the time, I miss being “under the sea”. Survey/rescue+salvage/coral restoration projects/marine biology

there has been huge progress on Fire+Floe with amazing work from @christinacoffin.bsky.social improving a lot of the traversal mechanics I started, and already squeezing out some super impressive abilities from the PCEngine <3

A preview of some of the updated prototyped area of Fire+Floe for #pcengine i'm helping develop.
Throwable fire, contributing additional art+tileset variations, collectibles and more secrets+gameplay to come soon :)

I like the top one and I prefer leaving it that way because it’s easier to edge slide and also add cut throughs with the knife tool if you I want to add more detail and revise the shape.
