Everyone in creative work for hire knows most of the job is clients asking you for something bad and stupid and you figuring out how to make something completely different while convincing them it's what they asked for. The AI era means everyone gets to see what clients actually want

Interesting, I love Affinity designer but it has the same problem

I'm sure open source developers hate this stuff but I bet many users hate Adobe more and don't care about how the sausage is made.

So has anybody seriously tested those ArtCraft apps - the vibe coded clones of the Adobe suite and MS Office?

I looked at the Photoshop one and it seems to work better than the original, but I can't imagine After Effects being so easy to reverse-engineer.

It kind of disappeared from the internet but Global Conflicts: Palestine (and GC: Latin America) was a very interesting combination of first person/experiential approach and news simulation.

My article "Press Play" is now out in this Anglica special issue: anglica-journal.com/article/5593...

It's about representations of news media in games like Beyond Good & Evil and BG3, but also about newsgames (@miguelsicart.bsky.social) and The New York Times Simulator (@molleindustria.org)

Unity 6 takes like 1 minute to recompile every time I add a line of code and that's the main reason I'm sticking to version 2022. Next year I'll have to stop teaching it at Carnegie Mellon University due to its maddening slowness. I guess this is what they've been up to:
