Granted I don't know much about American ideas of the class structure in 45. But it still felt sort of like a hybrid of an American and British movie for some reason.

In that Kidd wanted to be a proper noble, but the English court etc looked down on him because he couldn't quite stop his 'common' habits. Meanwhile the good guy was actually a lord whose father did no wrong and so ofc he is accepted. Which isn't unusual but fascinating from an American studio

And I think in retrospect, I did like the acting and charm of the person who played Kidd, but it was kind of a pastiche of Long John Silver, though not quite as obsequious. Another interesting thing was the classism.
