I'm spheroid all the way, and actively avoid clantech just on principle, even if it hinders me in gameplay; The only exception is when timeline gets to the point that Clantech is *everywhere* and is just a secondary equipment ecosystem.

My toxic trait is standing firm on the idea that the Rakshasa is actually a perfectly adequate and even pretty good Heavy Battlemech that is only 'bad' by the fact it actively invites comparison to the Timberwolf. And the Timberwolf is a *near perfect* design.
