In 1987 Pat Buchanan astutely remarked that "the greatest vacuum in American politics is to the right of Ronald Reagan." That is where the GOP now is. So let’s see where they’re headed…i.e. towards the abyss to the right of Trump. Take Jesse Kelley’s respect for Trump’s “restraint” as an example.

I sympathize and admire Trump's restraint. He's a man with reverence for the office and he wants things to return to normal. He believes his good conduct can help that along.
He's dead wrong, of course. Communists only understand fear and pain.
But still, I admire it.

absolutely, and that first sentence is a crime against journalism. It assigns agency to the AI. The agency belongs with the people who programmed it, they are responsible. It is simple. The NYT should not cover for them.

I don't see anything erratic here. For over a decade, Trump has prioritised "getting along with Russia"; since 20 January 2025, Trump administration policy has reflected that priority. It's perhaps the most consistent aspect of Trump foreign policy. 🧵on Trump and sanctions.

Can we please stop reporting on Trump's supposed "committee of inquiry" as if it's a real thing? He can't just order people to show up and defend themselves before some sort of MAGA Star Chamber.
