One of the silliest things about writing for young people is the shade authors get for it—as if it’s easier. This shows me that A. You don’t understand that this is where the big work is being done to help children build empathy and critical thinking, and B. You haven’t read the right books.

Did you ever have a book that was interrupted by life and then you carried the book everywhere because you wish you were reading it instead of doing anything else? Yeah. This book is so gripping, y’all.

Well, my health insurance just more than quadrupled. It’s more than my mortgage now. For one person. Must be nice to have taxpayers pay your top-notch health insurance for life while actively making decisions that hurt them. Y’all have no bottom.

Last night I had to explain emotional labor to a man. And now I’m stuck in some sort of loop.

There are times that being able to vomit on cue would be so handy.

I would like to say, again, that the press needs to be more responsible when they refer to mass murderers as “shooters.” A shooter is someone who fires a weapon. A mass murderer arrives on site with intention to murder. This is how mass murders become normalized.
