Go look up DJI mavic… battery lasts like 40 minutes. Those were the gold standard for both RU and UA for majority of the war, along with some Autel drones. I own DJI mavic mini 2 and it lasts like 15 minutes on the single battery. So 90 minutes is really good, if the number is true.

Exactly, beyond certain range, you just need a different drone. Cool part is where those X shaped surfaces give you good maneuverability, but they also induce a lot of drag..There's some overlap between those drones, FP-2 is plenty capable to hit the military airfields, while carrying bigger payload

Yeah, but Ukrainians already have longer ranged drones like FP-2 for longer ranged pinpoint strikes... you can always try to cram more range into every single drone you have, but at certain point it stops being financially feasible.... it's always cost / performance proposition.

Depends on the distance away from the frontline. You would have these at the rear, using these for point defense near strategic objects. And knocking these AAA batteries is a challenge for drones, unless they are under direct control (need stable data uplink to do). But they would be low pri targets

They are… Ukrainians got of Bofors 40mm, and zastava 20mm… on top of old soviet S-60, the later used mostly for direct ground fire (russians use them too)… also ZSU-23-2 used by both sides in large quantities

Interesting solution! Though its effectiveness is going to be hampered by lack of programmable air burst shells, requiring direct impact on target. Another disadvantage would be inability to feed from belts, as it uses 5 round magazines. But digital gun director is still really cool!

technically return of the automated edition lol B-29 had mechanized turrets which would converge onto a target via gun director.... but hey, automated gun battery could make a return too !

oh, i’m aware of that, I’m just saying that it might be the next point of warhead evolution… at certain point an air gap gonna be too large for HEAT warhead to have much effect. There is a theoretical limit, based on diameter of the warhead… we will see how things gonna play out though.

Nah, that wont work that well, the stand off distances might be too great fore HEAT warhead.... what will work better is the Explosively Formed Penetrator (EFP) core warheads
