A photographer captured a family of owls and accidentally ended up with the perfect cover for a music album.

Love this so much! ๐Ÿ˜ The photographer is Pete Arnold. share.google/pmwTrMyFTV1Q... ๐Ÿ˜Š It seems too good to be real but apparantly it is! ๐Ÿ˜€

This is a weight that was used by a Viking trader, some time in the 9th or 10th century. This is one of a number of weights discovered in Dublin. They were used in balance scales to weigh silver in the time before standardised currency. See it on display in the National Museum of Ireland.

A small weight on display in the National Museum of Ireland. It consists of lead attached to a small animal head made of gilt bronze.

With pointed ears and flared nostrils, the head may depict a wolf or dog, and it has been likely recycled from a stolen piece of metalwork taken from a shrine from an Irish church.

NASA picture of the day today is a real ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟbeauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The amazing Giuseppe Petricca has only gone and photographed the Sun at noon there, every few days, for a whole year. #Dedication ๐Ÿ”ญ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿ‘Œ

The imposing Callanish Stones stand talk with their shadows spanning out across the glass. It's a super clear sky, but looks cold. Above the central stone is a strange figure-of-8 shape of dots. This is the location of the Sun, at noon, on various different days across the year.

The tall stone cross of Skellig Michael.

It is decorated with a double-lined Latin cross, carved into a weathered stone that had been roughly hewn into a cross shape.

This 2.4m high cross stands on a leacht, a drystone altar, giving it an even more imposing aspect in the small monastery.

Situated in Tipperary's Suir Valley, Molough Abbey is a very interesting example of a medieval nunnery.

The ruins that we can see today relate to a nunnery founded by the Butlers in the 14th century.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Beautiful mosaic floor of the Roman baths at the Sanctuary of Poseidon, Isthmia, Greece. The baths were built ca 150 CE and were used by the athletes who performed in the Isthmian Games. The mosaic depicts Triton and sea creatures. (๐Ÿ“น me - filmed last October)

Yes, just a short visit. I wanted to explore the site & visit the museum, see the artefacts for myself & take lots of photos. It was one of the four sites my dissertation was dedicated to & I wanted to get a โ€œreal feelโ€ for it. It was one of the few sites on the Peloponnese that I hadnโ€™t visited. ๐Ÿ˜Š

A 650-year-old jewelry box with its paint still on it. 16 inches wide, 9 inches tall, wood coated in gesso, then painted and gilded. Made in Italy, probably Siena, in the late 1300s. Note the keyhole in the front. These locked.

Happy #TombTuesday to those who celebrate

On Saturday I made my first ascent up Carn Llidi above St David's & finally saw the two small Neolithic tombs built on a rocky ledge ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Helpfully the wartime builders of an adjacent concrete lookout didn't disturb them; an amazing ancient place
