also these two are absolutely carrying ace combat 8’s story because i feel like there’s something so beautifully yummy about the fact that as ac8 again confirms that electrosphere is the final destination, fighting them feels like you’re doing something *really really bad* in the long term

you really feel like if you gave these developers one more crack at ace combat and like 5-6 more years to make it, they could make a perfect game. we’re still missing some stuff here and there like i think 7 had much better mission variety and i miss the severe weather

ace combat 8 is fucking awesome just rolled credits. genuinely ended up really liking the final set of missions. i think the last mission could be seen as a little weak but i kind of see the last 3 missions as one long extended setpiece so i end up liking it in that rregard

okay let me be clear, more specifically what bothers me is that this game taking place so far after ac7 and taking place so close to 3, in a series that is unwilling to fully let go of electrosphere as a kind of inevitability that constantly foreshadows it, like… i WANT to see a cyberpunk AC again!

the thing i dont like about ace combat 8 is that it feels like the balkanization of the FCU is a prelude to electrosphere’s corporatocracy, and like. that shit is imminent. with 7 you could still act like it’s a far off future but dog 8 is only 11 years before 3.

this game could have gone way harder into bleeding edge technology eventually leading to widespread adoption of like, COFFINS in the modern games, which is really what i thought was gonna happen after ac7’s heavy focus on UAVs and drone warfare.
