Not only are saguaros sacred - which would be enough of a reason all by itself - they are nearly irreplaceable keystone species for a full environmental niche. They mature like trees and need YEARS to grow. But they provide homes and space for so many creatures

Look at the 1836 land boom there of grabbing stolen Native land after the Potowatomi and others had been displaced. I think Indiana was largely "settled' by the time of the homestead rushes in the Dakotas, Nebraska, etc.

That count covers only those whose identities have been confirmed. The fate of dozens more detainees from Gaza remains unknown due to enforced disappearance. The report documents an escalating system of arrest, torture, starvation and denial of medical care that has led to killings inside prisons and camps. It also found: โžค More than 26,000 arrests in the West Bank, including Jerusalem โžค More than 800 women and 2,000 children arrested โžค More than 3,100 Palestinians held in administrative detention without charge or trial, and 1,419 held as "unlawful combatants" โžค Israel is holding the bodies of 100 Palestinians who died in custody The groups also pointed to Israel's approval of a law allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners, and to the growing use of "incitement" charges to arrest Palestinians over their speech, which they say has created a climate of fear and self-censorship.
