Rising crescendo and falling flat
Queuing up, one after the other
Well spaced out and orderly

But I was out of tune
Unable to rise or fall
In line with the way
They showed up

These little notes
These little moments in time
That make up a life

given their fugitive status
from the horrific crimes
that taints their past

The escapees proclaim
they were framed
by fabricated evidence
which does not explain
why they fled the scene
if they were innocent

i do not know
why you love me
i am incapable
of seeing what you see

i do not know
why you care about me
because i struggle to
do so myself, you see

i do not know

but i trust that
you do

and learning to love myself
is undoing a childhoods worth
of abuse, though its slow going
