Speedrunning isn't something I've been interested in building support for, but I think somebody should! I'd be happy to help anybody figure out how to do it well. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Thanks! The gap is actually because Iโ€™m able to use ztsd on SQLite, but it breaks some of the functionality I expose on Postgres. So in Postgres Iโ€™m just enabling its normal compression. Honestly, keep leaning more and more towards deprecating Postgres. SQLite just seems like the way to go for HV.

Anywho, time to touch grass (well, car parts, but you know what I mean). Iโ€™m so stoked for everything thatโ€™s coming. ๐Ÿคฉ

Other cool thing about the managed system: shared storage. Backfills will become nearly instant. Itโ€™s gonna be awesoooooooooome.

@trezy.codesOct 10, 2026, 8:12 PM

Storage improvements are currently hitting like a 3x reduction in storage on SQLite. Postgres is only like 1.7x, but weโ€™ll get there. The hosted service is freaking awesome. It felt so far away a month ago. I 100% did a happy dance when I spun up the first instance yesterday.

The interpreters allow you to use other languages instead of just Lua. Theyโ€™re awesome. Project mode is similar to running `next dev`, but for HappyView. It also allows compiled languages for your scripts (e.g. Rust, Go, Zig, etc). ๐Ÿ˜Ž

@trezy.codesOct 10, 2026, 8:12 PM

I currently have
- fully functional JavaScript and TypeScript interpreters
- significant storage improvements
- a CLI for creating and managing plugins
- project mode
- the first hosted instance (spun it up yesterday)

HappyView things are coooooooking. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Oh, this is me. Iโ€™m actively working on spaces in Tranquil. Iโ€™ll have the PR up early next week. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes, @essentialrandom.bsky.social, this means TypeScript is close behind. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

A screenshot of the HappyView plugins dashboard. It shows several plugins installed: Lua, Jobs, XRPC, Atproto, Spaces, HTTP Client. For each plugin it shows their type, version, source, status, and some button controls. On the bottom right is a highlighted version number for HappyView v3.0.0-alpha.4.

Like... fuck reviewing in Lightroom. This sounds so much more appealing. It might even help me share my photos without procrastinating processing them for 6 months. ๐Ÿคฃ

@trezy.codesOct 8, 2026, 12:56 PM

Um, yes please? That sounds perfect.

I respect the decision. I turned down a +50 armor to see if my seed would bring me something better. ๐Ÿ˜…

The feature is almost ready! ๐Ÿ‘€

For context, this was originally a v basic explorer that gave full access to all of the space records indexed by the AppView. After a bunch of community discussion, I landed on a design for the tool that requires more intention. You can read more about the design and motivations behind it here:

Beat me by 5. ๐Ÿคฃ

@trezy.codesOct 7, 2026, 2:39 AM

It is! As I said in the article, I'm working on making HappyView a more securely managed system, but I think there's even more I can do in the future. One of the things I've been thinking about is how the plugin system in v3 could help. Could there be a plugin to enable E2EE on spaces? Possibly.
