Update: Don't helicopter while pissing. Science has been done and the results ought not to be repeated.

Another double portrait done, this time for the lovely @brunohirschkoff.bsky.social of a very pretty wolvish fella with some dramatic old scars. Super duper happy with how this came out.

Gotta love a good cupping session

@brunohirschkoff.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 1:18 PM

Thank you so, so much again for this! I knew this was going to be a beautiful piece but this exceeded any expectation I had, by a long way. It's absolutely getting printed and framed!

And the timelapse!

Folks, take an absolute LOOK at this. I commissioned Han last week to make a portrait of Lukyan Velasco, my disaster puppy and... just... LOOK. I am genuinely blown away and more than a little speechless, this is so beautiful. I can't stop staring at it!

I feel like this is the defining story of so many folks, me included, and honestly it's great to see so much more visibility around neurodiversity.

Gosh that's huge! Had you known within yourself for a while already?

In fairness, Herschel was born into immense privilege. Studied at Eton and Cambridge, invented the Royal Astronomical Society (which subsequently awarded him the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society twice), became a Knight, then president of the Royal Astronomical Society, which he invented.

Oh that's even better! Victorian polymath who invented the blueprint and whose COMPANION invented the moon people?! This is main character material! If his companion was an actual person, I wonder if they lived together? You know, as very good friends often did, in those days.

@brunohirschkoff.bsky.socialOct 8, 2026, 10:39 AM

I love how so many people of his era basically tried their hand at *everything*. John Herschel was variously an astronomer, chemist, inventor, photographer, botanist, and minor aristocrat. He made a new type of calendar, named seven of Saturn's moons, and invented the blueprint, just for funsies.

I love the thought that if he'd written this theory as a work of fiction, it would be lauded for its inventiveness. The guy even looked like the type to write such things! (Slightly nutty) I suppose when your dad discovered Uranus you've got some big... uh... boots, to fill.

In 1835, NY newspaper The Sun published six articles about how astronomer Sir John Herschel had found life on the Moon using a large telescope. The articles described how he saw plants, animals, and a race of humanoids with bat-like wings. It was all a hoax, now known as the "Great Moon Hoax."
