๐Ÿ˜ฌ Katie Zacharia's first press briefing was brutally bad ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Trump managed to find a press secretary who can barely read, but she does have the number one qualification -- looking like Ivanka Here's a supercut from Zacharia's first briefing, which made Karoline Leavitt seem like Ronald Reagan

For the first time, the British government has acknowledged that Russia interfered in the 2016 Brexit referendum.

So who did BBC Newsnight invite on to discuss what happened? Sergei Markov, Putinโ€™s former spokesman.

Par for the course, says Nerve co-founder @carolecadwalla.bsky.social

You don't win arguments by making stuff up and lying.

Burnham should demand to know everything SIS know. Then a big, well timed, reveal.

Much of the coverage today is absolutely nuts. The facts are on Wikipedia. The full Intelligence and Security Committee (Russia) Report is online. Tory media & politicians once again banking on their average consumer/voter being too daft/busy/blinkered to notice...

British Conservatives: "Russia has disgracefully interfered in politics in France, Germany, Sweden, Hungary, Moldova, Romania and invaded Ukraine. They even meddled in the US elections." Also British Conservatives: "What? Russia! Interfere in Brexit? Ridiculous! Just a tired old conspiracy theory."

Second, something way too often missed by commentators: the UK is doing more than anyone else in G7 to strengthen our public finances. We are delivering the fastest fiscal consolidation in the G7 and forecast to have the smallest deficit in 2031

Man who enobled a KGB agent's son... despite SIS raising concerns... says what?

This is just not true. As soon as I became
foreign secretary I asked the security
services the same question and they
replied that there was no evidence of any
successful interference in the 2016
referendum, by Russia or any other power

Either the security services have changed
their view - which would be very odd - or
Burnham is lying about what he has been
told. After all Starmer was in power for two
years and had access to exactly the same
information.

From The Archives #492 That time in October 2019 when Farage got all his Brexit Party MEPs to vote against EU plans to tackle Russian propaganda. 7 years later, almost to the day, he accuses Burnham of lying that there was Russian interference in Brexit...

Of course there have never been any proven links between members of the Reform Party and Putin's Russia. Surely it would be a 'lie' to make such a suggestion. Oh.
