I've been a vegetarian for 22 years. I don't own any pets. I also don't sit around judging people that do. I do however think about the things you've mentioned and make adjustments in my personal life and from time to time think out loud regarding these topics.

I bet it would have been crazy.

If AI is conscious then its use is slavery.

Even the playwright-cli is amazing. I've been missing out.

I've found myself automating workflows where data is trapped behind a site with no API, and I gotta say, @microsoft.com really nailed it with Playwright. I've done web scraping in the past, but this takes it to another level, including the ability to automate browser interactions. playwright.dev

Anyone calling it Super Intelligence tells you everything you need to know.

To the person noting there is not enough money in the world to license every piece of intellectual property stolen for "AI" training: you're sooooo close to the point, friend, keep going, you'll get there if you try

Zero is my favorite speed for in-flight WiFi.

The primitives you expose that others use and build upon matter. Actually, that's sometimes all that matters about a product.

People really out here choosing airlines based on in-flight WiFi speeds.

@kelseyhightower.comOct 2, 2026, 7:44 PM

🤦🏾‍♂️

This is an example where I don't need AI. I need an API.

This is what makes automation so hard. Writing the code isn't the problem, it's finding an interface that allows you to complete a task, or query the state of the world so you can determine the next step.

I understand why they do this. Bots and bad actors would flood the site with unwanted traffic, which could impact the people the service was designed for.

Today I set out to automate checking my voter registration. I use a popular website, which works great in a browser, but the organization doesn't provide an API, and the service attempts to prevent non-browser interactions.

The things I want to accomplish are the things worth accomplishing without using a computer.

@kelseyhightower.comSep 30, 2026, 6:19 PM

🤣

@kelseyhightower.comSep 30, 2026, 4:38 PM

I wouldn't rule that out, especially for software projects, but I just can't see myself using an LLM to write or summarize anything for me.
