I first began working in a newsroom in 1992 & I've written for dozens of places & that statement is eliding, nonsensical bullshit. USA Today is not to be trusted. Yes reporters work together *on specific projects* NO, the interview done with @nbedera.bsky.social was not used ethically. That's FALSE.
lol. In truth, I'm in no position to mock you. I'm still carrying my 12 mini, and hanging onto it for dear life, despite the rapidly deteriorating battery life, storage issues, etc.
dude

We're planning a public execution. We only admit white "refugees" from a former apartheid state. Our domestic security service uses white nationalist messaging. And the president routinely appears to encourage or endorse violence against his opponents & the media. Nothing subtle or complicated here.
Though I don't vote, I will happily accept compliments for the parts of the rankings you like, and will blame Pina for all the parts you hate.
You ever look at a team's depth chart and struggle contextualize how deep a team truly is relative to the league?
Well I built a tool that helps with that. Introducing Team Depth Ladders.

lol, I don't have a vote!
Oh, you should absolutely feel free to assign all kinds of sinister motives to Pina.
Again, not my place to defend someone else's rankings, but I will say there's a distinction between MVP (which is about that specific season, and includes the team's success) and the mythical title of "best player," which is a more holistic assessment.
Well, a) I don't think Shai being ranked third (behind two absolute historical unicorns who also dominate the game and are MVP-worthy) is a sign of disrespect; and b) per usual, I do not vote in this exercise, so I'm not here to defend any of it.
It was only a matter of time before @michaelvpina.bsky.social turned this bit back on me! Dastardly move.
But rest assured, Pina, I will be forwarding every last gripe and grievance to you, the *actual Ringer 100 voter*.
This post reminds me of when @dangercart.bsky.social wrote about this subject
I think the apron hurts bc it feels artificial. We’re used to teams falling apart from injury (Bird Celtics, KD Warriors) or drama (Shaq in LA) and both of those are very visual and very easy to understand. The apron tears your team up and now you’re explaining cap figs to your 6 year old. Tough.
NBA owners craved an excuse that would give them an offramp from spending to field competitive teams and keeping potential dynasties together. The aprons gave them that, and the league is poorer for it. Artificial parity is the absolute worst.
This continues to be one of the two most important macro-NBA stories. The league has clearly achieved what they set out to and are currently happy with it. Fans are... a large, diverse group whose preferences cannot easily be determined. In the long run, will this shift be good for basketball? 🤷♂️
Critics have been pretty tough on him, but I think he's been fine.
Common here, kicking off the NBA season for Amazon.
