adult has had considerable resources devoted already to their schooling and survival to adulthood etc. -- although this logic gets weaker as infant mortality has gone down dramatically

Memory system works well, if you give a correction, it adds to a markdown file that then is injected before every other instruction

The estimates are accurate now, and if an LLM suggests something will be hard or take days, I actually am somewhat inclined to believe it because it's no longer parroting what humans used to estimate pre-LLM, padding and all.

@lizthegrey.comOct 14, 2026, 11:44 PM

Anyone else notice that LLMs have stopped inventing fictitious story point / T shirt size estimates? They finally actually estimate post-LLM work units instead of pre. I used to have LLMs say "well that'll take two weeks, we'd better stop here" and I'd say "well try anyways" and done in 30 min

you see, vulnerabilities don't exist if they were found with AI, the same way that if I close my eyes and chant "cars don't exist" I can cross the road and not be struck

didn't Trump just unilaterally tout an "energy ceasefire" between Ukraine and Russia?

This both answers a question I've had all along (Where is all that Venezuelan oil money *going*?) and is super-duper-extra-ooper unconstitutional. Just like any other arm of the government, the military doesn't get money until and unless Congress says it does.

ASpencer Ackerman@attackerman.bsky.socialOct 13, 2026, 5:56 PM

NEW: The US theft of Venezuelan oil resources appears to bring the Pentagon its own source of money — something that should be understood as another milestone in the collapse of constitutional government.

forever-wars.comThe Dawn Of The Self-Funding PentagonIt's not like the military is cash-starved from Congress. But it looks a lot like it's going to make money off Venezuelan oil

Ukrainian presidential advisor Serhiy Beskrestnov confirms Elon Musk's Space X crippled Ukrainian capabilities last night. In other words, the US deliberately sabotaged European defence operations mid-mission. Every country in the world should move away from buying American hardware ASAP.

"I can confirm that tonight SpaceX has implemented a speed limit on Starlink terminals while in motion.

The limit currently applies to the StarShield “military package” and is set at 100 mph.

Our defense forces were not given notice of this limit, and this has resulted in the disruption of a number of missions.

It is clear that this action cannot be a coincidence and is related to the current political situation."

I came in early before 8:30am, so no impact that I've seen but it's quite possible the city centre will get quite crowded later in the day!

Because while AI tools can be *helpful*, they are not *essential* to those small businesses such that they'll increase expenditure per employee 10%

@lizthegrey.comOct 13, 2026, 11:23 PM

Do you need an LLM to leverage them though vs just a static worm?

@lizthegrey.comOct 13, 2026, 11:22 PM

And I can disagree with the policy decision while thinking there was not personal animosity towards trans people behind it.

But then there is no compute for it to run to

But yes agree the frontier labs more likely to start one with a Mythos with its safeguards filed off than an open weight

Fast mutating, citation needed, developing 0 days is still hard ish

So many better ways to exfil your weights though
