ace combat 8 writers really just kinda got bored at the end there huh

we need universal basic compute not because of AI, but so devs can get their silly service/machine naming conventions out of their system and not subject colleagues to it

yeah, I think this is partly why they’re both spending so many cycles on stuff outside of “make better model” because it diversifies their revenue if they do hit on something

I’m not quite sure we’re at the top and I do surmise that there’s some knife-fighting between OAI and ant for big money deals but I am really curious how it shakes out given that OAI is a much better value play between US majors

i think once you’re past that, then you can start thinking about orchestration and control for multiple agents, but idk how many people really get here (too often imo people put the cart before the horse)

@aparker.ioOct 14, 2026, 8:16 PM

a lot of this is really “what is the implicit knowledge you have that isn’t explicit” re: dev env setup, quirks, constraints, etc. a lot of this turns into “how do we build a little computer for the agent”

1
@aparker.ioOct 14, 2026, 8:16 PM

once we’ve gotten past that and have kinda settled on a working definition of what’s happening, then it mostly turns into a “what are the things you’re doing yourself and what would it take for an agent to do them; what are the things you might want to do if an agent could do them?”

an uncomfortable amount of it comes down to “what’s your theory of mind for the AI” because it informs a lot of the downstream usage. if someone thinks of it as a slot machine and/or an oracle, like, those are both maladaptive patterns.

where i think things get somewhat muddled is that its really unclear to me how much bsky (the company) really wants bsky (the social product) to succeed on its own merits. they obviously spend money on it (mods, product work, etc) but they also do like zero marketing afaict

@aparker.ioOct 14, 2026, 2:40 PM

yeah one thing that feels like people talking past each other a bit on this is that both of these positions can be simultaneously true you should post on bsky/not on closed platforms for a host of reasons beyond 'better software' and 'not insane management' _and_ its incumbent on bsky to imp ux

I actually haven’t used cosmos much so I can’t speak to it.
