Looking for a postdoc in brain/mind research? This is a terrific program. Fellows are independent with modest research funds; they typically collaborate with existing faculty.

Last one! I found this gripping.
And as an oldy but goody, Baboon Metaphysics.

This, just published last week, looks fantastic! As I understand it, Kelly was inspired to write it when a clever wild mouse broke into her lab. It set her off on a path of (re)thinking.
Me too! I worry that there still won't be enough mallets to wack all the moles.
We're all tired. I get it! But US science is being dismantled and we have to find the energy to fight back:
Thanks for the nudge (and well said), @annaschapiro.bsky.social. Here's mine (a reshuffle of Anna's great points). Please submit something too!

After receiving the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine on Monday, Georg Nagel said he thought it was too soon; that optogenetics had only really helped one patient. Well, a new study out today bumps that number up to 7!
Just like that: poof & gone. RIP *all* of NSF social, behavioral and economic research (including psyc & cogneuro). I’m speechless.
In response to our questions, an NSF spokesperson said that SBE has not been shut down. But with zero SBE-specific funding opportunities, no review panels, and dwindling numbers of staff, it's hard to see the directorate continuing for much longer.
I'm thrilled to see my concept on the cover of @cp-trendscognsci.bsky.social this month!
It was a fun challenge to illustrate the overlapping brain networks underlying cognition and highlight the complexity that future cBCIs must navigate to restore mental function in real time 🧠

No idea how you’d infer what subjective happiness depends on w/out a model.
Another terrific experience with @skypeascientist.bsky.social. This time, w/ a 12th grade class in the middle of reading Callahan’s Brain on Fire. A wonderful coincidence b/c her condition was figured out at my uni.
Every kid in America should meet a scientist. If you haven’t yet, sign up!
Hear, hear!
I just noticed that the #optogenetics graphic from the @nobelprize.org announcement uses Swedish fish @deisseroth.bsky.social 😂
Very cute, Nobel committee 💗💗💗
Another fact not everyone knows: @deisseroth.bsky.social is a psychiatrist that continues to practice. He's also an author. Projections is a must-read.
For those not aware of the therapeutic angle:
A basic-basic-translational trifecta! A discovery in alga leads to a new technology that transforms both neuroscience research and leads to a brand new type of human therapy. I love that everyone in my feed is smiling this morning. Congrats, @deisseroth.bsky.social.
