It was this in real life.
Noticed these two background characters in a Bob’s Burgers episode and became convinced they’re modeled after the guys from “In Cold Blood.”
One of my favorite comic book-related memories of HS: kids who had never opened a comic buying the "Death of Superman" issue in its black plastic bag because "It's gonna be worth something someday."
I had an interview a couple of years ago where they began a question with "What metrics did you use..." and I had to tell them "They assigned me things, I wrote them." The conversation ended soon after.
It’s so grating and it comes on like 10 times a day.
There’s an attack ad on a local candidate that begins with “Look up the word ‘phony’ in the dictionary and [he] appears.” Not “and you’ll see his picture,” but “appears,” which I think implies some sort of Candyman/Bloody Mary situation.

I was around that age when I saw it too and it shook me. There's something about UK-based depictions of totalitarianism that's especially intense.
Brazil does a very good job at capturing this era's mix of chintziness, meanness, shoddiness and idiocy.
A lifesaver during my underpaid twenties.
I am so, so tired of these people. These smug, incurious, always smiling toadmen, offering nothing but hate and war and championing useless industries.
ONE TYPE OF PERSON ON SOCIAL MEDIA: I don’t like AI THE OTHER TYPE OF PERSON ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Pretty naïve of you to say that when it just zip zorped the gringle in less than seven kleebs. SEVEN. KLEEBS.
Something I learned just today is that there's also a silent version, because not every theater in 1931 was outfitted for sound.
Have you ever seen the Spanish version that was made in tandem with this one? It has that same vibe.
New on our menu: Steak Deanne, our chef's take on Steak Diane. It is, however, named after his "Gorgon of a sister-in-law," something to consider before ordering.
Re-reading IT this summer it occurred to me he’s somewhat kinder to fat boys. Ben is so pure hearted he could lift Thor’s hammer. “Lard Ass” in the pie-eating story gets his vomitous revenge. But Sonya Kaspbrak and the bride from “The Wedding Gig” are portrayed as monstrous.
This is an oral history story that opens with a reference to the “last known location” of the type of place that would normally have just one fixed location.
“…carrots the size of sleeping bags. Squashes that dwarfed people’s garden sheds. We thought they might feed whole families. In the end, whole families fed them.”
My WIP is still in its infancy. The decay will come from one character's mental state, as his drive to impress his classmates leads him into increasingly dangerous territory.
Hi everyone. Tom Coombe, author of multiple short horror stories. I'm always a little weirded out when I find a pepper growing inside a pepper, but it would be far more disturbing to find a completely different vegetable.
