Listening to this podcast chat about @isaac-fellman.bsky.social 's genius in Notes from a Regicide just reminds me how this is one of my favorite books of all time and I get to teach it tomorrow. I cannot tell you how amazing this book is, you have GOT to read it. It's stuck in my bones.

Had a really great time chatting (and chatting, and chatting some more) with Casella about the Le Guin Prize shortlist. Honestly I could easily have gone on longer; it’s a list with a lot to discuss, in a great way.
Still so proud to be on this incredible shortlist. The winner will be announced on Ursula's birthday in just a couple of weeks!
I am so moved to hear you say this!!
fantastic work here, a service to history
43 years old and still don't know the difference here. The book is good regardless, but is it that much better than what I've been reading, or have I just switched on the ability to see its quality
HEYYYYYYY
I'd also like to introduce you to my trans masc friends Kamal and Gnomon.
@isaac-fellman.bsky.social was telling me that Abelard and Héloïse had a son named Astrolabe, and this segued into a conversation about what astronomical instruments would also be good names for trans women. In no particular order:
Astrolabe
Orrery
Dioptra
Volvelle
Scaphe
