Five years ago I bought an end-of-life house in a 5-acre plot in W Berkshire, just over an hour from W London. It's a magical spot, with views over the Kennet Valley towards Watership Down. Sadly, we have concluded we can't complete the redevelopment. Is it for you?

Actually they aren't £10k, more like £2k. The installation that drives up the cost. There are usually some ancillary works to be done - change a couple of radiators, find a place for the external unit, install a hot water tank. And then lots of bureaucracy, because of heating industry opposition.
"drayage" is the tell. If there's a better use case for electric vs hydrogen I've yet to see it.
Brushed up on my physics for this live @cleaninguppod.bsky.social recording with Professor Sir Steven Cowley, Director of Princeton Plasma Physics Lab. He reports huge progress on plasma physics, and AI is promising - so why is he worried about fusion's Theranos moment? youtu.be/UV30cDZcSfs?...

The first truly successful company I created was Sports News Television SNTV, a joint venture between the The Associated Press and IMG.
Today it turns 30 - still the world leader in creating and distributing sports news video, as it was the day we launched it.
Happy birthday SNTV!

Easter egg: FCEV stands for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle, ie hydrogen cars. There aren't any. In fact, in the whole IEA report, the word hydrogen appears a grand total of zero times.
Sure there's no transition? Check out global new car and light truck sales by powertrain. ICE vehicles have lost 1/3 of unit sales in the past decade. Dramatic decline, and quite obviously not about to reverse. Source: iea.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a096b...
Another really excellent & interesting, must listen to, podcast from @everythingelectric.bsky.social host @helenczerski.bsky.social in conversation with @mliebreich.bsky.social host of @cleaninguppod.bsky.social
(Note. If 58mins bit long, can listen to at higher playback speed ≈46 min @ x1.25)
Timelapse of the big @pragmacharge.bsky.social hub we built in Valencia - Europe's biggest with 50 bays. Now operating along with a smaller hub in Felixstowe - 48 more hubs to go by 2030. #NoMoreDiesel #TimeToElectrify #ElectricFreight #EuropeRising #PragmaCharge
$800m > $300m, it seems. All joking aside, there's a good reason FedEx, UPS, NYC cabs and other large fleet management co's have driven EV adoption from the very beginning.
"Eventually, a fuel that is dirtier, dearer and less secure than the alternatives runs out of tomorrows."
There's only one Fickling
"Nowadays, LNG is failing on all three. It’s never been clean, these days it’s not cheap, either: Just buying gas for an existing plant can cost more than building a brand-new solar-plus-storage system from scratch"

Yes, it's possible. We wanted to keep things simple, and to avoid potential safety issues with high-side trucks.
Yes. Saw some lovely electric construction sites recently in Oslo. The only thing we won't have on site is hydrogen, for safety reasons.
We charge per km, not per kWh.
It's in production :-)
Hydrogen buses don't and never will cost "the same or even less than diesel". That's what trial after trial has demonstrated. Even at USD 10 per gallon diesel, you would need retail hydrogen at $6.60/kg, and that's before you pay 3x for your buses. Unsubsidised green hydrogen retails at over $30/kg.

Useful Energy needs careful definition and is generally based on Best Available Technology. I will be pushing the IEA to be transparent about all their data and assumptions.
My favourite chart from the @IEA special report on electrification. Electricity is only 23% of Final Energy (No big deal), but it's 37% of Useful Energy (What?) and delivers 46% of GDP (Wow!) And it's going clean, fast. Still think there's no transition?
