As we discussed Wed, because the definition of “American noir” was flawed from the start, it essentially falls to each of us now to use our own knowledge & intuition, in forming an “accurate” list. And needless to say, our lists won’t exactly match. But FYI, agree about Hitchcock and Sierra Madre. 👍

Fascinating. And funny, with regard to one thing: a bunch of us were watching The Lodger a few months ago, and remarked how noir it was. 😅 Obviously nice (and accurate) to see The Lost Weekend restored, along with Port of Shadows, Body and Soul and several others that seem so clearly noir now. 👍

Believe me, at this point, if we’re away from home and indoors, we’re masked. 👍👍

Here in Palm Springs, it’s estimated that *at least* 1 out of every 20 people are currently infectious with COVID. It’s crazy throughout California, throughout the South, and all around NYC. Interactive map below, worth checking out, especially if you’re immunocompromised.

Oh my, what a hoot! I haven’t thought about that song in decades. I’m glad it came in handy! It’s funny: although I haven’t thought about the song, I remember so clearly recording it with Sally Mayes in the studio. She came up with that “bubble” sound on her own, as an improv. Utterly brilliant. 😊

OK, the minute you said Helen Broderick, it suddenly clicked into place, and I remembered which movie it was. 😅 Yes, absolutely: a charmer. In fact, I sort of wanna watch it again. 😊
