I am now tempted to start an anti-AI card collection, though I currently only know of two examples.
Meanwhile all the yes and ty.

I usually design my business cards to be conversation-starters. But at after too many endless awkward discussions at recent events, I realized I needed a new type of card. The conversation-ender.
"Just days before the Great Barrier Reef Foundation [chair ex-ExxonMobil Aust. CEO John Schubert] received .. $443.4 million funding, the organisation was in talks with then environment minister Josh Frydenberg's office for a grant of just $5 million."

Different industry, same tactics.
As communities push back against unchecked AI data centre expansion, Big Tech is borrowing from Big Oil’s native advertising playbook

The types of breaks in monsoon rain we saw in 2026 can lead to more negative health outcomes: humidity remains high but temperature increases, and the combination of high heat and humitidy are dangerous. And of course extra power generation from coal leads to more air pollution.
At the same time, coal plants were under strain as physical stocks have dropped significantly in 2026, reaching their lowest since 2023 after several years of improvements. During the pre-monsoon season, Coal India dispatched only as much coal as in 2025, despite this year being much warmer.
📢In the latest edition of our India Snapshot, we look at El Niño and its effects on the Indian monsoon, power generation and demand, and health. There is a reasonably strong link between El Niño years and weaker monsoons, and we saw that this year with less rainfall, particularly in June.

There isn’t a rug on the planet big enough to sweep this under.

"167,000 people on income support aged between 22 to 64 years old died between 2012 and 2022 – 58.2% of all deaths for people in this age group. Those on JobSeeker aged 35 to 44 are 9.6 times more likely to die than their peers." Poverty is a political choice. It can be changed.
This is a great take and something I would add is that narrowly bedding down in a 'just build more tech' / electrification tunnel-vision state is so much of that effort just ends up sucked into the maw of data centre growth instead of serving the needs of actual humans + eliminating fossil fuels
Thanks for the link. Wrote TBI off a long time ago & Didn't know it was founded by those two...'nuff said!!
By "DCs" above, I meant "NextDC"
DYK the diesel burned by these data centres is eligible for govt rebates of >50 cents/litre‼️🤯 NextDC of West Footscray infamy used ~2 ML of diesel across its national portfolio in the 2025 financial year, meaning taxpayers gifted >$1 million to DCs to run polluting diesel generators 🤯 🤬
AI data centres that burn diesel to generate electricity in Australian suburbs are facing calls to have their government "handouts" cut.
My takeaways: Minerals Council's enthusiasm for Safeguard Mech shows how well it's working for them & how confident they are of keeping it that way I think the sheer incompetence of the Coalition when they were in power helped slow Coal & Gas development & was likely protective
"What does it mean, in practice, to love our neighbours in the Pacific? It must mean more than warm words, family metaphors and admiration for their resilience. It must mean listening to their demands and changing course." - Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC)
"Our Pacific neighbours have been clear about what they need: an end to fossil-fuel expansion and transition away from fossil fuels, serious climate finance provided as grants rather than loans, support for loss and damage, and a meaningful role in decisions that affect their future."
Pacific Conference of Churches & the Fijian Council of Churches: "It is a sin before the Creator for wealthy nations and extractive industries to applaud our sacrifice while granting new drilling licenses, burning more coal, and offering empty pledges."
