Lovely cover of La Boheme in Arabic and French by Nikotine Beirut
Awesome play on words: la in Arabic is 'no' so she goes from la boheme to 'la tensani' (don't forget me)
if they are able to do it long enough, yes that could hapen
The shock factor is a big part of their thinking here. They enjoy it. I don't know what it'll take for more people to understand that these people cannot be negotiated with. They can only be fought. The only thing they care about is power at all costs.
To be clear, I'm not saying their base will necessarily love this. They love imagining punishing their enemies, but it doesn't necessarily mean they would all love watching it happen live. My point was more that Hegseth and co have to continue escalating and making the spectacle deadlier.
Yes. That's how they view the world. Mass deaths is not an incidental part of it. It is a core component. And it has to be a spectacle. Hegseth won't just order people to be drowned. He needs to announce it to his public. And the more he kills, the more he feels powerful.
Labour went from 48.9% to 45.2% and Greens went from 29.3% to 32.8%. If anything the story is how there hasn't been huge changes. Labour kept a Labour seat with a new Labour PM in power, one that's better liked than the previous one. 'Catastrophic' is quite the stretch
As others pointed out, Farage lost multiple times before having a single victory. And every loss was accompanied with a media discourse playing up his influence. They kept that up until he actually won.
The coverage would be almost entirely about Reform almost winning and what this means etc. It would have downplayed the Labour victory. The fact that the Greens got closer to winning a seat that's been Labour for a long time is still significant.
Imagine if Reform had tripled their vote in this election and how the coverage would look...
Fascism is also about the pleasure of seeing unwanted bodies mutilated, tortured, killed. This has nothing to do with Hasan's crimes. It has to do with bringing back public lynchings. They're signaling to their base that they can now rejoice in the the death of undesirables.
The Pentagon says it will livestream the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan
Someone must have studied how it's often in periods of reduce immigration that the anti-immigrant discourse comes out in full force? Or is that just my impression? (also we need to challenge the use of photos of random non-white people who are presumed to be immigrants)
hey all, just a heads up to my artist peers- this is all AI slop, I would avoid this. It isn't adobe code, it's just vibecoded to emulate their features.
Nope. This needs some consequences.
Can the world instead accept some bad things happening to Sam Altman
Agnostics above atheists is kinda funny
HEY
October 7 is a very serious date and mocking or downplaying it is really insensitive
Anyway, here’s Netanyahu with an AI Lego video about October 7
My PhD was on authoritarianism and sectarianism and it would be very awkward for me to be an authoritarian sectarian
Behind the Bastards is apparently eligible for a Golden Globe this year
I can't imagine we'll win, given the number of podcasts by famous Hollywood people on the list. But it's nice to be considered eligible!
