🔇🔇🔇Announcing new work from DAIR which is very close to my heart, 3 years in the making.
When #TigrayGenocide, the deadliest genocide of the 21st century thus far, started in November 2020, it was 1 month before I got fired from Google. 🧵
"But A.I. programs are not human; they are human creations." Correct.
And a loud, not-so-gentle reminder that if people had just listened to Black women technologists like @timnitgebru.blacksky.app from jump, we would be living with AI guardrails right now. 🤷🏿♀️

Everything bad happening is because white people refuse to listen to Black people. Example #5329
If you mean all those datacenters these bozos are building that are actually killing our environment, sure. Otherwise, I'd put the eugenicists who created "the study of existential risks" at the top of these lists 🙄 And this, my friends, is how eugenicists are laundered into the mainstream.
Sounds like Nick Bostrom's 2022 "paper" listing "dysgenic" (opposite of eugenic) pressures, i.e undesirable humans reproducing too much, as one of the "existential risks to humanity." Like their eugenicist counterparts, this lists "malicious AI above nuclear weapons for 21st century health risks 🙄
Thank you ❤️
Appreciation post for @mingemi.bsky.social: she took a big leap in starting @valkyriesbeat.bsky.social at the beginning of this year and now this team is in the mfin' WNBA finals! Please please subscribe to Valkyries Beat to help her get to Atlanta to cover games 3 and 4 (and game 6, if needed).
One of the handful of articles telling it like it is instead of misinforming the public. By @saragoud.bsky.social for @thebulletin.org
Yes. Its bad science based on numbers out of various behinds, but that's not how most of the rest of the media is discussing it.
❤️❤️❤️ Narrated by me also :)
🙄🙄🙄
I talk about this irony in my upcoming book too. Which you can preorder at www.simonandschuster.com/books/Deep-U... :)
Yes. Exactly. Jeff Dean was especially mad at section 3, our environmental and financial costs section. He went after Emma Strubell saying that they used the wrong numbers. He said that our paper doesn't discuss the "carbon neutral" nature of Google's data centers 🙄
That's because you know that TESCREAL has entered common usage and aren't under the illusion, like these people, that it hasn't lol.
Dr. Bender @emilymbender.bsky.social offers a very rationale view of AI risk. These companies are creating malware that they are releasing on the network.

Why isn't this on every TV screen and not the fairy tale of killer robots
Lol well the CEO of a gazillion dollar company got triggered by the term sir. Your cult tried to take it down from Wikipedia and succeed at first but it came back and they couldn't succeed the second time. Cope 😂
You know what's funny, Sam Altman commented exactly like this on one of @xriskology.bsky.social's tweets lol. It has already happened. Cope.
Lol it has happened. Cope.
In how many ways can this message be repeated? @emilymbender.bsky.social has been saying this for how long now?
‘Claims that system behavior is mysterious arise from deliberate mystification on the part of those selling those systems, and a misapprehension of what their output is by those procuring and using it.’
