β€œThis film is where the beginning of Nolan’s career meets the apex. A 'Memento' for The Ages, in which our hero keeps recovering fragments of lost memories, sharing his confusion with the audience, as he discovers that his role in the epic may not be as heroic as he - or we - first thought.”

Yes. That two-parter was really excellent.

Outstanding analysis of the Polanski mayhem here. Hats off to @sturdyalex.bsky.social

If your starting point is simply "European Jews were given permission to colonise Palestine," you have predetermined the result of your inquiry by misunderstanding the issue at such a basic level, that only a decision by you to go back and do quite a lot more research and thinking can possibly fix.

Perfect. My favourite bit of Rossini bitchiness was when he wrote to a fellow composer: "Thank you for the oratorio score and Stilton cheese, which you so kindly sent to me. The cheese was very good."

"The Greens' motion, awful as it is, won't have impacted the Holborn result hugely. Highly engaged voters in a low-turnout by-election rarely wait so late to decide. Zack absenting himself from the debate, in contrast, may have done more lasting damage to his leadership credentials than the motion."

It's just spotify. Been playing up all week. It's there now.

@sturdyalex.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 9:04 AM

Very common in classical parlance.

@sturdyalex.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 9:03 AM

No. Spotify has been having problems all week. We have to push the pod two-three times before it appears. Should be there now (or very soon).

@sturdyalex.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 1:52 AM

Yeah, ok. But the document it is scanning is a diary of performances. All it needs to do is find a single value over 12 in either column A or column B.

@sturdyalex.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 1:42 AM

But an adult does not forget how to do things a child can. Quite strange to say, the task was too easy, that's why it failed.

I find it fascinating that it can perform such complex stuff, but is confused by European vs American date formats into thinking the concert happened on the 10th of September.

@sturdyalex.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 5:48 PM

Interesting, but primary sources are key to accuracy. I was taught to not even trust an academic article's take on a book passage, without checking the book. So, why trust a harvested piece of a reddit reply, explaining a news report, based on an academic article's understanding of a book passage?

@sturdyalex.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 5:39 PM

Yes. This is Wiki-harvest, largely.

@sturdyalex.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 5:29 PM

How interesting. So, literally, same available info, but one is told to be confident and the other not.

@sturdyalex.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 5:25 PM

insisted "It looks like there might be a minor typo or a mashup of musical terms in your query. You are likely looking for Mozart's Concert Aria: "Conservati fedele" (K. 23)" It seems to get particularly baffled if the query is in language A, but includes words from language B.

@sturdyalex.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 5:25 PM

I am doing some reasearch today and it has made mistake after mistake. I don't know if it's just mythology and classical music that it is shite at, but it was notably unhelpful and pretty confident with its wrong answer. Earlier asked it which concert aria begins "Dove sei, mio bel tesoro" and it

@sturdyalex.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 5:20 PM

No, the gemini answers often provide a link at the end of the statement, as a source. It linked me TO the programme.
