Freedom of the Press Foundation's Seth Stern reacts to the DOJ investigating the TV press pool for antitrust violations over its blackout in response to Trump's press ban: "The investigation is nonsense... It’s a weird way of telling the press how much he missed them.”

The investigation is nonsense. Trump may view the presidency as a business venture, but news outlets’ standing up for their constitutional rights has nothing to do with antitrust law, no matter what Laura Loomer says.

“Depriving Trump of the attention he craves is not a competitive harm and in any case, antitrust law has long recognized First Amendment exceptions even when there is anticompetitive impact.

“Even more bizarre than the administration’s legal theory is that after all his ‘fake news’ rhetoric, Trump is weaponizing the DOJ to pressure the networks he calls the ‘enemy of the people’ to stay at the White House. It’s a weird way of telling the press how much he missed them.”

I am personally not sure what Trump's approval rating floor is, but it's definitely lower than pundits were predicting in early 2025. It is a possibility that he never gets above the mid-30s again (among all adults)

In a new Truth Social post, Trump explains why he should have received the Nobel Peace Prize—writing entirely in the voice of a man being forcibly removed from a Cheesecake Factory. Really unbecoming of a FIFA Peace Prize laureate.

Screenshot of a long Truth Social post from Donald Trump dated 9 October 2026. The full thing is here https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/117414533410378018. It's too long for alt text, but begins:

******
This is the woman who received the Nobel Peace Prize over the Great United States of America, whose Representative, ME, settled eight Wars, and many other things. I know nothing about this woman, and neither does anyone else! In fact, to the best of my knowledge, no one ever heard of her other than the fact that she, very obviously, hates Israel. I don’t know what the woman has done. I settled 8 Wars, with letters being sent from every President and Prime Minister from the countries that I helped to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, and I’m about to settle, or win, two more, Iran and, Russia/Ukraine. They’re both happening at breakneck speed but, forget them, it’s the 8 that I’ve already settled, any one of which, in particular, Pakistan and India, would be far more than necessary to win the Nobel Prize. In actuality, I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1. The 8 Wars are:

Cambodia and Thailand
Kosovo and Serbia
The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda
Pakistan and India
Israel and Iran
Egypt and Ethiopia
Armenia and Azerbaijan
Israel and Hamas

Additionally, I stopped Iran from having a Nuclear Weapon, and blowing up the entire Middle East and, ultimately, far beyond! I saved more lives than anyone in History and, as Maria Corina Machado, a truly fine person, stated to the Media when she gave me her Nobel Prize of last year, “Donald Trump settled many Wars, and deserves the Nobel Peace Prize more than any person that has ever received it.” Based on my record of PEACE, a record like no one else has ever achieved, I agree! I got back all of the hostages in Israel, including the final 28, both living and dead, and worked with Hamas to do it — Nobody believed this was possible! I removed the World’s Evil Dictator, Nicolas Maduro, from Ve…

Remember, his campaign promise in 2024 was he would stop the Russia-Ukraine war in 24 hours and he wouldn't start any new wars. Russia's war continues nearly 2 years later, and he let Bibi convince him to launch a war against Iran. Real Nobel Peace Prize stuff here.

I was eager to put in entries for a prestigious journalism award for some of our Bolts team's wonderful work this year; they deserve all the love. The fee to apply for each 1 story is $500. The journalism sector should really rethink what it asks of small newsrooms to have any seat at the table.

The NYPD just released surveillance video of the ICE shooting (which occurred off camera). Two men in civilian clothes run up to a car with guns drawn. One second later, one man begins smashing the butt of his gun into the driver’s side window. The driver appears to panic and hit the gas.

The ABC News story is back up, and it includes a large correction/editor's note at the very top. On top of that, Nathan Lee's byline has been removed and replaced by a generic "ABC NEWS" one.

abcnews.com/US/new-shipy...

Editor’s Note: CORRECTION: A version of this story published on Oct. 7 contained errors in the description of certain company investments, government contracts and event chronologies. After subsequent reporting, this version contains corrected information and additional context regarding some of those investments, contracts and events.

President Donald Trump and defense contractor Anduril Industries earlier this week announced a $6.6 billion investment to create a state-of-the-art shipyard in Maryland to manufacture components for Virginia-class submarines.

While the project was welcomed by many, it comes amid concerns raised by Congressional Democrats about defense companies that have received investments from a venture capital firm where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner.

My understanding is that the US doesn't need diesel. It's other countries' needs that are driving up global prices. US refiners make billions of excess profits charging US customers global prices. In fact we are a major exporter of diesel. So WTF? And what did he give Putin in return?

Chart showing consistent production, domestic sale, and exports of diesel over the last 6 months.
@justinbaragona.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 7:14 PM

Because of Trump's war of choice with Iran, which has sent gas and diesel prices soaring, we are now importing fuel from Russia -- which is at war with our ally Ukraine and is one of Iran's top supporters.

I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter. Additionally, based on the condition of their Diesel Refineries, Russia will then deliver, within a short period of time, 3,000,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel. Between our TOTAL CONTROL of the Strait of Hormuz, and this great announcement on Russian Energy, Diesel Prices for Americans and, indeed, the World, will be COMING DOWN, IN RECORD NUMBERS, AND FAST! Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority. This is a very big and important announcement. Additionally, it must be understood, that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

A little surprising it wasn't Scott Jennings, especially when he was seemingly auditioning for the role this summer.

But he has a cushy gig under an Ellison-run CNN, and Trump is reaching late-stage George W Bush levels of unpopularity, so why make the jump.
