Last night's involved Edmonton Worldcon being a trash fire. Poor Edmonton haven't even won their bid yet, and also they seem lovely. I'm also positive they won't put us in hotel rooms where all the bathtubs are side-by-side and also carpeted. (So squishy.)

Apparently I've reached the point in my career where I get con dreams/nightmares. (It's not like I didn't go to cons pre-publication! But it's definitely a very different experience.)

But still - hey everybody! No Proper Lady is a deliciously fun book you should all read!

I am not ok with that book being that old.

It's one of the movies of all time.

I slept until 9 and I've had two naps and two coffees and I may go to bed early. COVID and even its vaccines just FRY my brain until my immune system is able to adapt.

It took me literally 3 tries to say the phrase "pork fork". I had to stop watching Pride & Prejudice & Zombies because it was too hard to follow - I found myself staring at the backgrounds because the characters moved too much and apparently my visual cortex was working like a compression algorithm.

Ugggghhhh got an anti-vaccine bot in the comments, which I blocked, but let's be clear - these side effects will be done in 24 hours. And will leave no long term effects, and I deliberately scheduled this for a weekend and cleared my day. Which is a HELL of a lot better than actual COVID.

In light of some magazines pulling scummy things on creators lately, I’m doing a little thread on short story rights. I don't want anybody getting taken advantage of. Also, if you're new, this stuff can be confusing!

So the band "crashed" our wedding. (My maid of honor had been in band with us and knew this would be welcome.) They brought a uniform jacket and the appropriate instrument for each of us. Yes, that's right - I did this in my wedding dress!

I'm very lucky in that the COVID/flu shot combo doesn't give me muscle aches or chills. But it makes me genially stupid. Not uncomfortable, just incompetent. Getting through verbal compound sentences is too hard. Guess who forgot to send an acceptance speech for the Aldiss Award to her editor!

I've got extremely limited space, so I really have room for like, 5 max. And everywhere else that would have limited me to two cultivars. So totally random it is!

I have NO IDEA. I got the "we send you 5 random tubers from our dinner plate stock" grab bag from Breck's. (They're not the best, but they're one of the few options if your criteria is "I want them all different" over selecting specific cultivars in minimums of three.)

Only the top one would get the shot. You'd have to keep coming around with a different trenchcoat and a different kid on top and eventually the pharmacist is gonna look at you weird

I mean, she's bad news in the book (which I only vaguely remember) but was it really necessary to seduce her new husband's brother who I don't remember even appearing on page in the book?

I'm 2 episodes into the 7 episode Netflix East of Eden and we haven't actually gotten to the book yet. (This is all backstory.) I'd listen to Florence Pugh read a phone book, but I'm not sure I'm up for another 5 episodes of Evil Woman Does Evulz and is Punished and then Does More Evulz.

I was so grateful when my kid was over 12 and we could just start getting his with ours at the local pharmacy without jumping through hoops.
