We all know Substack has some nasty politics, but I genuinely don't begrudge writers who can't make the move. Above a certain number of subscribers, it becomes so expensive to run a newsletter anywhere else.
Finally, finally moving my newsletter from Substack (where it hasn't been updated since 2024) to a new platform. Phew.
handed in the copy edit of the lady of thorns, which is a delight

it is a travesty that the brilliant Indrapramit Das is not more widely known in fantasy and horror fandom. The way Indra pulled South Asian history, politics, monstrosity, and queer love together in one book is a thing to behold
I mean, yes, obviously, no shit
“A senior executive at Microsoft said A.I. systems built on the work of others will be seen as ‘an astonishing theft of unprecedented proportions’ and possibly the greatest robbery of labor in human history, according to court documents unredacted Thursday in an ongoing Manhattan lawsuit.”
as a reader of historical romances i have to say the thing where she makes him give up his elaborate revenge plot to prove his love?? baffling. unrealistic. girl this is a group project now
exactly, yes!! this!!
I miss TV shows with 20+ episodes. I miss filler episodes. I miss side stories that mean nothing, and other ones that turn out to be the most brilliant storytelling you've ever seen. Perhaps I am old, but so much made now just tires me.
does anyone have recommendations for their favourite artists for sapphic art?
very excited that LitPins&Co are doing a special edition set of the Burning Kingdoms trilogy!!! it has original covers, printed hardcovers, sprayed edges, endpapers and overlays, which is all wildly fancy and lovely
it's limited edition and available here: litpinsandco.com/collections/...
it's a gothic romantasy about a condemned woman who must earn her freedom by destroying the heart of an evil sorceress in a cursed city called moonscarrow. it is not at all subtly inspired by sleeping beauty, and is also as close as i'm going to get to a villain romance
Fraudsters are AI-mincing books and republishing them onto Amazon. This was done to The Isle in the Silver Sea - I assume in the hope people would accidentally click on it. It's been removed, but this is a warning of something to look out for, to my fellow authors.
