one of my primary influences in this project is Anni Albers, particularly her weavings. i love her combination of minimalism, detail, and and organic textures. it's wonderful the way she draws one into seeing process as motion, and invites people to imagine how processes work internally.

Also thank you to everybody that has been playing and talking about Nighthawks. This first bedroom scene I painted sums up my aim for the game, trying to capture a particular atmosphere of being awake in a world where most people are asleep. It's been great to see people get that.

Also interesting to learn that UO lead designer Raph Koster (who together with Kristen Koster was a proponent of early ecological / simulationist design ideas) went on to be creative director of Star Wars Galaxies. I remember playing the free trial (never subbed as I was a poor teenager).
