Uh oh, did someone’s website and personal account experience a big drop in activity after Ukraine hit a Russian data center?

Elon Musk: “Zelensky has gone too far”

Second Saudi airport attacked, this time King Fahd International, the third busiest in the country, and largest by area. Houthis appear to be focusing on the oil industry and airports — international commerce and the economic basis of Saudi power. This situation is going to get worse.

@nicholasgrossman.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:01 PM

The US president is incredibly weak on the world stage. Demands concessions from Iran. Gets less than nothing. Tells Ukraine to lay off Russian oil infrastructure. They hit more targets within less than a day. Threatens other countries to join anti-Iran sanctions. China and others laugh it off.

Calling my shot: we will see less than half as many pundit-consultant pieces about this Latino realignment as we saw in the other direction 2021-2025, because a Latino blue shift doesn’t fit the Dems-Too-Woke narrative

@nicholasgrossman.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 2:28 PM

Good question. Don't know. A typical reaction is pull back and warn against travel. But Saudi Arabia is too important to the global economy. Pakistan and Turkey made a defense pact with KSA, but haven't directly intervened. France is deploying 2000 troops to protect Yanbu port. I guess we'll see.

@nicholasgrossman.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 2:01 PM

Another Houthi missile attack on King Khalid International Airport, the biggest in Riyadh. This one killed 12 and injured hundreds more. This will be hard for the Saudis to stop. To keep the airport functioning, they need to prevent every attack. To disrupt it, the Houthis just need a hit or two.

That's probably the best path forward, like forcing Roman Abramovich to sell Chelsea. Either way, no one should count on Emirati money flowing into Manchester in the next few years.

@nicholasgrossman.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 1:23 PM

Underrated factor in the Manchester City scandal moving forward is the Iran war. The owners who were caught repeatedly breaking league rules are the Abu Dhabi United Group, led by UAE VP Sheikh Mansour. And the UAE has less money to throw around due to the war, which is unlikely to clear up soon.

Ukraine has targeted Russia's: -oil infrastructure, especially refineries, which fund the war -warehouses that hold materials for troops -data centers that aid comms and spread propaganda Smartly hitting pillars of Russia's aggressive war effort while Russia bombs civilians for the thousandth time.

What a weird world we live in - Ukraine hits a data centre deep in Russia - Irish twitter users see racist posts about IPAS centres in Offaly fall off a cliff

PAlina Pereverzieva 🇺🇦@perevaa.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 8:40 AM

And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

The "Party of Reagan" has the United States siding with Russian aggression against NATO allies and a brutal war on a European democratic US partner. Yes, the whole party. If they didn't, they would impeach and remove the president who is blatantly breaking US law to help fund Russia's war effort.

No. For example, if he were somehow coerced into this, he'd publicly complain about how unfair to him that is.

@nicholasgrossman.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 12:24 PM

He's expressing his real opinion. His admiration for Putin, desire to make America more like Putin's Russia, and hope to see Russian aggression succeed has always been genuine and unsubtle. He's blurting out what he thinks. No secret conspiracy needed. (Which doesn't make it less of a problem.)

Goose chasing someone meme, with the top caption "violent threats to elected officials from whom, New York Times?" and the bottom caption "publicly encouraged by whom?"
@nicholasgrossman.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 12:15 PM

If Trump were working directly for Putin this whole time, people ask, taking orders to destroy US democracy and the Western alliance, would anything look different? Yes. Trump would be more subtle about it.

AAaron Rupar@atrupar.comOct 11, 2026, 12:38 AM

Wow — listen to these new comments from Trump. Thanking Putin, trashing Zelenskyy, characterizing Russia as eager for peace and Ukraine as intransigent. The mask is totally off.

It's already illegal. Congress banned it near-unanimously in 2022. That law allows the ban to be lifted only if Russia withdraws from Ukraine. He's simply breaking the law that's already on the books.

DDavid S. Bernstein @dbernstein.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 9:23 PM

Republican US Rep Brian Fitzgerald tweets that he will introduce a bill to block purchases of Russian oil. Don Bacon (R-Neb) tweets that he will co-sponsor. Obviously this won’t happen during campaigning recess (and Trump could veto anyway) but interesting push-back on Trump.

Democrats must recon with the idea that, guided by ideology and in exchange for massive profits from government contracts, many of these tech companies were *fine* assisting with the erosion of democracy and civil/human rights violations en mass.

@nicholasgrossman.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 10:23 PM

I had some stuff on Palantir as the hardest problem, but we cut it for length and because Project Meridian provided a news hook. When I say this will be tough, much of what I had in mind was the political challenge you note. That, not merely tech, is the constraint to be overcome.

hey, House and Senate Dems, I just got a pilot survey question on this and knowing that Elon Musk is getting the contract for a DOD program craters support for that program among Democrats and significantly hurts with Inds. More to come.

@nicholasgrossman.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 6:03 PM

Legislate, don’t impeach?
“naïve to the point of delusion to think that Dems would have… a cooperative partner in the White House”

But he won’t be removed?
“not tenable to allow the president to run roughshod over rule of law… without meaningful, constitutional pushback”
