🥰 I'm excited for you to read it! (And I hope you like it!)
The illustrations are INCREDIBLE. @tomsbrown.bsky.social sent me the originals, and I'm planning on framing a few to put up in my writing nook.

Day 11: Horror where the scary stuff is the backdrop for incredible character work. (Sometimes unexpectedly incredible character work...looking at you, Zombieland!)
You can do a lot with a bad hand.
Representation matters. Diversity is strength.
Day 10: Caves and caving in real life!
Same, and it makes me so very happy.
So nice when you can work with artists who you love!
Added another 500 or so words to the WIP, did some research, updated character list and lexicon. I'll take it.
Woot! Congratulations. The cover is gorgeous!
As discussed, here is the full list of individuals whose literary feedback I accept: 1. My agent, who gets a 15% commission for placing my work 2. Editors who are paying me money for it 3. The resurrected corpse of William Shakespeare
Aaaand here is the cover of our next wee book with the colour and the text.
Day 9: Caves in fiction and media! Note: It came out after RISE was written so wasn't an inspiration, but my all time favourite cave-horror is The Luminous Dead, by Caitlin Starling. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

I love writing a character I know well. I've spent so much time in her head/voice it flows subconsciously now. I just wrote a scene in which she reacted emotionally in a way I hadn't included in my (granted, very rough) notes, but it made perfect sense in light of her past. Love this woman!
Never have I been more happy to be a bit of a shut-in.
Ottawa possible measles exposures at multiple businesses in Hawthorne Meadows / Elmvale Acres and at one restaurant in the Market.
Oh this can just fuck off
An AI-'written' complete copy of my own book is now on Amazon; same title, more-or-less the same blurb, and exactly the same impetus.
Reviewers of Amazon, I urge you to absolutely dive-bomb this plagiaristic piece of shit: www.amazon.co.uk/FORGOTTEN-VI...
I usually read the book before I watch the movie, but we were living in Japan at the time, so our access to English books was limited. The movie-rental place had a wide selection of English movies with Japanese subtitles, so we gave it a try and cried all evening.
AHHH! So pretty! Seeing this for the first time as a real, book-shaped thing, and I'm in love
"Reading Of Saints and Shadows again after so long, I was amazed to realize how many elements now familiar in the vampire and thriller genres appeared in Saints first." - Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse series Pre-order OF SAINTS AND SHADOWS today.
I have NEVER ugly cried so hard as I did in that movie, and that was before I was a mom. Not sure I could watch it again now, but it was definitely a formative emotional experience.
