"Just a couple adjustments!" I said. "Some minor tweaks to the pattern!" I told myself. Five hours later and there was only one panel that I hadn't completely rebuilt. Thankfully in the light of the morning I still like it, so next I just gotta spend another like 5 hours redoing the pattern to cut.

Working on a pair of dragon wings! These will become part of a personal project, but as per usual if they turn out well I hope I can make more for people. Sadly now I gotta stop for the night while the dye dries and fills my room with alcohol smell.

Does your dog need a bone? Made the denim one as a sewing test (the sewing machine's motor subsequently blew up and I gotta fix it RIP). Then the leather one was a time trial test. For now, I'll have these at the night market I'm vending at this Wednesday. Boston, at Jacque's Cabaret.

Wheeee had to write a groveling email to Etsy support because they deactivated one of my listings when I’m positive it didn’t violate the policy they said it did. I’m betting what happened is an ai decided a mannequin torso was a real butt and was too sexy.

I’ve been making swatches for all the dyes I have and man, this is only like half of them I have too many colors. (Actually like 2x as many paint chips as dyes because I wanted examples for two levels of dilution. Some of the dyes are so strong that they come out nearly black when used straight.)

Sadly this thing took 3 hours to hand sew, so I don’t think it will make sense to make many of them. I don’t think many people will be happy to pay that much for this.

Leather dog bone! Finished stitching this up last night. The zig-zag stitches in the middle are because the leather had a couple scars there and I thought it would be fun to highlight them.

Recently hung a set of modular display shelves that I'd made a number of years ago. Back when I worked at a laser cutting shop, I'd been working on a number of furniture projects. I ended up focusing on costumes after leaving the shop, but I am still very fond of the pieces I made.

A pair of fallen leaves masks I made last week (I think, time is fake). One is fresh with the greens of summer, the other is turning to autumn.

As always, made of leather, designed by me, cut with a laser, hand dyed, and available on my Etsy:

ooooh that's a really cool finish.

Yeah it really does save so much pain. I’m looking forward to seeing what you make as you start making full use of the tool! Feel free to hit me up if you’d like to talk shop on techniques and tricks.

Yooo congrats on the laser cutter!

not even the fun kind of sick!

Anyway here’s what I was working on when the sewing machine let out the magic smoke. A harder project than I’d expected it to be.

@armoreddragon.bsky.socialSep 12, 2026, 8:01 PM

The internals looked fine, no masses of dust bunnies. I would have expected it to be easy to just swap a generic motor in since it just like gears onto a rubber drive belt. Now I need to decide if it’s worth buying a new machine that’s less likely to shit itself, or troll craigslist or whatever.

@armoreddragon.bsky.socialSep 12, 2026, 8:01 PM

The sewing machine I just picked up has started making a bit of a sad scraping noise from the motor side of the casing, and also giving off a noticeable burning smell. A repair place said they would expect $150 just for the motor if that’s what blew, plus the repair time. Sadface.

Sadly my spike store was out of this specific style that I needed quickly. But I like the place well enough that I’ll say, if you want to make this sort of thing, check out StudsAndSpikes.com they’re great, they sell exactly what the name says.
