OH So far, the aeronautics industry has failed to teach airplanes to consistently act in the ways that avoid crashing into the earth

I joined the core team, helped design and ship 1.0, and then maintained it for the next 15 years while it was used by every single Ruby developer, so… it worked on me, yes

I walked over to my coworker’s desk and said “hey can you apply my patch” and he said “I’m too busy, you have permissions on the repo now” 🫠

2000s style link banners say “web showcase from past years”

maybe we just need to give the functional Rust programmers their own enclosure with separate enrichment activities so the rest of us can write programs with useful real-world results

@indirect.ioSep 24, 2026, 5:34 PM

OH Functional programming is when Rust people read your code and go "what the fuck (laudatory)". Imperative programming is when Rust people read your code and go "what the fuck (derogatory)"

this is the last weekend of my art show with @shirleywu.studio! we used ceramics, beads, and data from the Japan Meteorological Agency to capture the dates of sakura blooms and ginkgo and maple leaf color changes over the last seven decades. 🌸🍁🍃

a photo with a blurry flyer on a wall in the left foreground, and a ceramics installation on the back wall. the ceramics are shaped like sakura flowers, ginko leaves, and maple leaves, and show a graph of how the dates of sakura blooms and fall leaf colors turning are changing over the decades due to global warming
